the scammer and their victim - online dating

The victim is normally a vulnerable person or person going through a difficult period of time.
The vulture www.ualadys.com approached me in the summer of 2007 inviting me to place my profile for free on their site. I had just been diagosed with cancer. I did not think anything would happen and did it more for a joke.

I had 40 sessions of radio therapy from October 5 to December 5 2007 having to make a round trip of 100 km every week day to receive it. On the 15th December I received an e-mail saying that Lidiya P #8135 had written to me. Went I visited the site I found that a further 9 women unbeknown to me had written. After careful consideration over a week I decided to ignore the other ladies letters and wrote to Lidiya (23 December 2007)

During January of 2008 ualadys.com had an ugly fight in public with uadreams.com on whose books the lady that I was writing to was with in the Donetsk Ukraine office.

Obviously at this stage of my life I was in a very vunerable position hence falling for the scammers e-mail.

These have prooved beyond all reasonable doubt

1. fraud in the duplication of initial letters sent to multiple men purporting to have been written just to one man.
2. Identity theft

This has been reported (June 2009) to VISA but to date we have not been advised that any action has been take as their logos still appear on the websites. In other words they are profiting from fraud are they not?

Many men have reported online dating agencies to the FBI and likewise they seem to be doing absolutely nothing. At least Mr Putin did act in Russia on the complaint of an Australian. Well done Mr Putin.

It would appear that all Ukrainian online dating sites use the Pro-dater business plan which does have a negative effect on the people that they come in contact with during their writing expeditions and this is why there is so much negative comment about uadreams.com and the like. I would like to tell personal story about Anastasia.com. I am girl from Kiev (Ukraine), I am nice, well-educated and I know English. I wanted to find serious relationship with help of site Anastasia. She told me that she needs to write and send hundreds of e-mails every day, trying to make new members and to have chat with them. She receives percentage from payments.

Also I found many ads in the local press, where girls are invited to work in chat with foreigners. Also there are special people in the agencies, who write very emotional letters about love and relationship.

Than I studied other international dating sites with Russian/Ukrainian girls. I found out that most popular girls usually have very provocative pictures. I mean that girl in underwear takes your attention more than girl in dress. There are many topless girls. Believe me I grew up and live in Ukraine, I am young and beautiful, but not me not any of my friends can not let provocative pictures appear in the Internet. Don't believe that Ukrainian teacher can place a picture in the Internet dressed in a sexy bra. She has colleagues, classmates, alumni, parents, pupils, relatives, and friends and so on. It will be very bad if somebody from this list will see her in underwear (or topless or nude) in the Internet dating site. It can completely destroy professional and personal reputation (I take a teacher for example, but it is true about doctors, clerks, managers and so on). Who don't care? Well, people from show-business (I didn't find girls on the dating site with such field of work), professional daters and prostitutes.

I am Ukrainian and after my own experience and investigations I don't believe to dating sites. It is monopoly of professional writers, daters, and fake agencies

Well, I decided to try well-known international site. I filled out application form on Match.com. Next day I couldn't access to my page. I wrote a letter to the customer service. The answer was 'We don't accept profiles from your part of world any more, because of scammers'.

Guys, if you have something to suggest me, please don't keep silence, let me know your thoughts.

Anybody scammed by a Ukrainian dating scammer can email the Ukrainian Tax service,. gromada@sts.gov.ua They are always pleased to hear from you & tax the scumbags of there ill gotten gains. They have a fraud department that will take action & hopefully put these low life scammers out of business. Its well worth an email to alert them of a scammer & if possible the agency they work for. Its probably best to just visit Ukraine with out using corrupt dating agencies if you really want to meet a Ukrainian lady. Just be prepared to be patient & do NOT part with your hard earned cash if they ask for it. Move on & find someone else. There are lots of decent women there as well as the scumbag scammers. I know a translator for this company, it is 100 per cent scam, do you really think young Ukraine models are single and looking for old men ? They get paid by the company for every photo someone buys of them and for every email they receive as well as a hourly rate for video chat. Most of the girls are in relationships, search for them on www.vk.com and look for yourself. They get paid money for the gifts you send, so they never even got the nice roses you sent, just $5 instead. If you are looking for genuine girls there then look for single mothers or women in there late 30's and older. The young girls don't want old men. Just your money.

According to this article in the Kyiv Post, Cupid recruits for a job titled "Motivation Manager" in the Ukraine. An undercover journalist applied for one of these positions which allegedly "involved posing as a female user of the dating site and encouraging male users online to buy memberships." But that can't be right because Cupid told the BBC that they don't employ anyone to do this (it would be illegal after all).

Apparently Cupid did not respond to an invitation from the Kyiv Post to comment on this investigation.
