China is angered by a US warship’s navigation operation near a disputed reef in the South China Sea. The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman added that relations between the US and China have faced serious difficulties in recent years. He also called on the new Philippine government to take practical measures to handle territorial disputes. Beijing and Washington have traded accusations of militarizing the South China Sea. China is undertaking large-scale land reclamation and construction on disputed islands while the United States has increased its patrols and exercises in the region

#Philippines - election: Rodrigo Duterte claims victory

Rodrigo Duterte has claimed presidential victory in the Philippines.

With about ninety percent of the vote counted, exit polls show that the mayor of the southern city of Davao he's in the lead.

Duterte has promised to crack down on crime and overhaul the country's constitution.
