The pen is mightier than the sword - A picture is worth a thousand words
As
the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries meets on June 2,
questions are rising about the oil cartel’s continuing relevance. Many
Opec members have suffered as the oil price has collapsed and countries,
most notably Saudi Arabia and Iran, have fought to retain market share
rather than set prices by adjusting production. Unarguably the price war
has also hurt the U.S. shale industry as many Opec members had wanted.
Increased demand because of the low prices is adding to their optimism
that the price war has worked. The higher prices mean oil producers can
breathe a little easier, although even at $50 those prices aren’t making
money. https://www.theguardian.com/business/...

Iraqi
special and counter-terrorism forces have entered the Daesh-held city
of Fallujah in Anbar province as part of a major offensive to flush out
the terrorists.
This is the third phase of the massive operation,
which began in the early hours of Monday, and marks the start of an
urban combat against the terror group. Iraqi commanders say their forces
are marching from three directions on the city which lies some 50
kilometers west of Baghdad. The assault follows week-long attacks that
saw the recapture of surrounding villages. Rights groups, meanwhile, say
some three-thousand people have managed to escape the city. Fallujah
fell to Daesh in the summer of 2014. About 50000 people are believed to
be trapped in the city proper.

that doesn't show how amazing racing's become, I don't know what is.
Also, well done to the marshalls for dealing with it so well!

More
than 8 months have passed since the last Hajj in Saudi Arabia has taken
place. During Hajj of 2015, more than 2400 hajj pilgrims were killed
due to a stampede and Saudi negligence. At least 460 Iranians were among
those who were killed. Tens of other Iranian pilgrims were also killed
in a crane crash in Mecca during last year’s Hajj.
Still Saudi
Arabia has not taken responsibility for the deaths and now another Hajj
season is on its way in four months. This year’s Hajj will take place
without the participation of Iranians who Riyadh has refused to
guarantee their safety and to respect their rights. Many continue to ask
why the Wahhabi regime of Saudi Arabia has the right to choose which
Muslim can or can’t go to Hajj?
• Historically, June is a quiet month for the markets with SPX showing both small moves and low volume
• Volatility measures across the asset classes have settled these past weeks and complacency is setting back in
• However, the preponderance of looming event risk - like the Fed, Brexit and oil's climb - are likely to spur action
