Studies have shown Americans use an average of 46 mobile apps each month to complete a variety of everyday tasks. Now imagine if you could combine all of those programs into a single, standalone app. A one-stop shop to socialize with friends, order food, pay rent, or even consult with a doctor – colloquially known as the ‘super app’. While super apps have flourished in Asia, their adoption in Western markets, including the U.S., has been slower due to a variety of reasons. But things may be starting to change, as more and more tech companies have set their sights on bringing the super app model to the U.S.
Yes, it is possible for users who aren't Chinese citizens or permanent residents to use WeChat Pay. However, you might need to download the international version of the app, and you'll face restrictions unless you have a Chinese bank account. We'll look at this in more detail shortly.

President Donald Trump announced severe new restrictions on immigration and asylum in the United States hours after taking office Monday, declaring that he will send troops to the US-Mexico border and attempt to end birthright citizenship.
The first effects of Trump's stance became apparent minutes after his inauguration when an app unveiled under president Joe Biden to help process asylum seekers went offline.
US media reported 30,000 people had appointments scheduled.

US President Donald Trump has issued pardons or commutations nearly 1,600 people convicted or charged in connection with the US Capitol riot four years ago. Fourteen members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, two far-right groups, are among those whose sentences were commuted by the new Republican president as he took office on Monday. It's one of many executive actions he signed, including starting the process of withdrawing the US from the World Health Organization and declaring a national emergency at the southern border. "The golden age of America begins right now," Trump said in his inaugural address, adding that he will be a "peacemaker and a unifier".

Donald Trump has signed a number of executive actions from a stadium in Washington DC.
The first action rescinded 78 Biden-era executive actions and the crowd cheered as he signed each one.
He also signed a handful more which included the US withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement, informing the United Nations of this and another directing the federal government to order a restoration of freedom of speech.
He promised the crowd he would sign more when he returned to the Oval Office and began throwing pens to the crowd.
