#Amsterdam - police says it will arrest people defying demonstration ban: Al Jazeera English

10 November 2024

Police have clashed with protesters in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam and several people have been arrested as security forces try to prevent demonstrations. Protesters were rallying against the portrayal of Thursday's streets violence in the city between Israeli football fans and local people as anti-Semitic.

Authorities imposed a three-day ban on protests starting Friday following violence between supporters of Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv and Palestinian solidarity protesters. The violence started after fans of the Israeli side tore down Palestinian flags and chanted racist slogans ahead of a match in Amsterdam.
