Since more than 6 months, no food was entered into Madaya at Damascus countryside situated opposite to Al-Zabadani located at the border to Lebanon. Al-Zabadani has been besieged by the forces of the Asaad regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah. It is inhabited by nearly 40,000 civilians including displaced people who escaped from the regime shelling from neighboring areas.

Activists said that there are nearly 160 cases of fainting daily due to the lack of food in Madaya, and 35 people died of starving as a result of the blockade.
Horrible images of hungry, old people and children were published by activists of Madaya. The medical office in Madaya said that most of the dead people are babies and elderly, pointing out that the milk shortage is the main cause of infant death.

With more than 6,000 mines around Madaya city the Assad regime is preventing anyone to leave, thus practicing the policy of "Hunger or Kneel" in the light of the international weakness.
