Not many people had heard of Bluesky when the Twitter side project made its debut as a separate company in 2021. The decentralized social media platform initially flew under the radar, but user numbers skyrocketed after the U.S. election in November.
This was largely because many of X’s users fled to Bluesky, as they were unhappy with some of the changes that Elon Musk made to Twitter after he acquired it in 2022 and later renamed it X. Bluesky now has over 27 million users, but whether it can continue its rapid growth and compete with the likes of Musk’s X and Meta and Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads remains to be seen

SpaceX’s colossal Starship launch system lifted off on its seventh uncrewed test flight, with an upgraded version of the megarocket embarking on the program’s most ambitious flight to date. SpaceX was able to duplicate its prior feat of catching a booster that returned to Earth. But 8.5 minutes into flight, the Starship spacecraft itself was lost. #CNN #News

A ceasefire deal agreed between Israel and Hamas has gone into effect after a nearly three-hour delay.
The statement came after Hamas named the three Israeli female captives to be freed on Sunday as Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher and Emily Damari.
Netanyahu said earlier that Hamas had not lived up to its commitment to provide the names of the three captives it’s set to release in exchange for dozens of Palestinian prisoners. Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary joins us from Khan Younis in southern Gaza and Stefanie Dekker joins us live from Amman to discuss the latest developments.

Adherents have been bolstered by Trump’s 2024 election victory. The tightening of abortion laws, the 2021 storming of the Capitol, a flare-up in racist violence: The US far-right has never been more powerful and visible than it is today - and that’s not just due to Donald Trump. The ultra-right has managed to gain a foothold at the very heart of US politics. As part of a strategy to win the 2024 election, it was ready to create a social divide similar to that of the secessionist wars, plunge the country into chaos and cause democracy to totter.
The triumph of the radical right is the outcome of a well-thought-out strategy set in motion more than 40 years ago by a conservative minority thirsty for power. And this group has pushed through its agenda under the nose of the world. Today, we can see how successful its strategy was: The ultra-right has gained control of the key centers of power, a process accelerated on all levels by Donald Trump. With his help, the ultra-right now has control of the Supreme Court.
