Romania and Latvia, both NATO members and supporters of Ukraine in its 2 1/2-year-old war with Russia, on Sunday were investigating instances of Russian drones that crashed after breaching their airspace, authorities in both countries said. The incidents prompted officials to call for measures to act jointly to counter Russia air incursions.

Venezuela Opposition Leader Urrutia Seeks Political Asylum In Spain, Leaves The Country The Venezuelan government has said that opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia has left the country and has sought political asylum in Spain. Urrutia was the opposition party’s presidential candidate, backed by popular leader Maria Corina Machado. He disputed President Nicolas Maduro's July 28 victory.
He was facing legal proceedings in Venezuela. He had skipped three summons to appear before prosecutors. He said that attending the hearing could cost him his freedom. The Venezuelan prosecutors had issued an arrest warrant against Urrutia for his insistence on being a rightful election winner. His lawyer claims that given the charges levelled by Venezuelan authorities, he could face a jail term of 30 years.
Venezuela has been witnessing a political crisis since the July 28 vote, in which President Maduro was declared a winner. The declaration of Maduro’s election victory triggered massive protests in Venezuela that killed 27 and injured 192 people.

Huge numbers of Israelis again poured into the streets to protest the government's failure to secure the return of remaining hostages in Gaza, a week after one of the largest demonstrations of the war following the discovery of another six dead hostages in Gaza, and after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu pushed back against pressure for a ceasefire deal and declared that “no one will preach to me.”
An American-Turkish activist has died of her injuries after reportedly being shot by Israeli forces during a protest in the West Bank. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has again urged allies to allow his country to use Western weapons to attack deep inside Russia.
On Friday Zelenskyy spoke at Ramstein air base in Germany where representatives from some 50 countries had gathered for talks hosted by US defense secretary, Lloyd Austin. Zelenskyy later met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for talks in Frankfurt.
Zelenskyy wants to secure more weapons to help his nation push the Russian invaders off Ukrainian territory.

How it all started
The War in Donbass (also known as the War in Ukraine or War in Eastern Ukraine) is an ongoing armed conflict in the Donbass region of Ukraine. From the beginning of March 2014, demonstrations by pro-Russian and anti-government groups took place in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, together commonly called the "Donbass", in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution and the Euromaidan movement. These demonstrations, part of a wider group of concurrent pro-Russian protests across southern and eastern Ukraine, escalated into an armed conflict between the separatist forces of the self-declared Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, and the Ukrainian government Prior to a change of the top leadership in August, the separatists were largely led by Russian citizens. Russian paramilitaries are reported to make up from 15% to 80% of the combatants.
