'Trust' - Official Trailer

Trust (2010 film)

Plot

Fourteen year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets a sixteen year-old boy named Charlie (Chris Henry Coffey) online. Later he bumps his age up to twenty, then twenty-five. When they finally meet she finds out he is thirty-five. Annie is annoyed that he has lied about his age, but is pleased when he compliments her body. He convinces her that the age-gap does not matter. At Charlie's initiative they have sex. Unknown to Annie, he also films it. Afterwards Annie tells her best friend, Brittany, about her sexual encounter with Charlie. Britanny is concerned and tells the police, who start an investigation. Annie is forced to help trap Charlie, but he finds out and breaks off contact with her. Her father, Will, (Clive Owen) starts also his own obsessive investigation, going so far as to steal chat logs from the police. His relationship with his wife (Catherine Keener) begins to deteriorate and be begins to doubt his work at an advertising firm, which involves provocative advertisements using minors. When Will explains to his boss that his daughter was sexually assaulted his boss is shocked, but then is relieved hearing that she just had sex with a friend.
 .
Annie hates Brittany for not keeping secret her relationship with Charlie, and she hates her parents for making her betray him and for forbidding her to contact him anymore. However, although Charlie is not identified, his collected DNA shows that he has done the same with three other young girls, though Annie thought she was the only one. After seeing pictures of the other girls, she complains that they are not even pretty. As such his compliments about her body mean much less to her. She finally admits to herself, and to a hospital counselor, that she was raped. When walking in the hallway, she is confronted by Brittany, who apologizes for the "internet thing", which Annie has no idea about. She goes to a library computer and on the internet, people make fun of her supposed sexual appetite, Photoshopping her head onto a pornographic picture, and giving out her number. She runs home and attempts suicide, but is saved by her father. In the end she reconciles with her parents and Brittany.
.
As the credits roll Charlie is shown to be a father and a teacher.
