Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has held talks with Volodymyr Zelensky in Downing Street, as the Ukrainian president seeks to shore up European support for his country's war effort. Mark Rutte, the new head of the Nato military alliance, also attended to take part in the talks with Zelensky. Rutte told BBC News after the meeting that "it's crucial for Ukraine to prevail," adding the situation "is not only a problem for the Ukraine, but also a threat to all of us." Rutte, when asked whether he would support such use, said that legally, Ukraine is allowed to use its weapons if they can hit targets in Russia that present a threat to Ukraine, but the decision was not up to him. "That is up to the individual allies to decide how weapons they deliver into Ukraine can be used," he said.

A new documentary from Al Jazeera takes a look at evidence of war crimes in Gaza in the form of social media posted by Israeli soldiers recording and celebrating their own attacks on Palestinians.
We play excerpts from the film Investigating War Crimes in Gaza, now available online, and speak to two of the journalists involved in its production, director Richard Sanders and Gaza-based correspondent Youmna ElSayed. “Israelis themselves were telling us precisely what they were doing and why they were doing it,” says Sanders about the evidence the team reviewed.
“They don’t think it’s complicated. They don’t think it’s nuanced. Their rhetoric is often overtly genocidal.” ElSayed adds, “They’ve had all the courage to do that because they know that they are not even going to be condemned.” Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs on over 1,500 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. “I never expected the world will know my name [because of] a genocide of my people,” says Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza, who gained international acclaim for his work during the first 108 days of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza.
Since evacuating in January, Azaiza has brought his advocacy for Palestinian rights around the world. Democracy Now! speaks to him from Washington, D.C., where he has just wrapped up a nationwide speaking tour titled “Gaza Through My Lens” in support of UNRWA USA. “Israel is targeting our children.
Israel is targeting our babies, targeting our mothers, targeting our families. I just want to show the whole world so maybe I can bring help to my people through my photography,” Azaiza says.

Tanja Wrosch of Twelve Capital, discusses the impact of Hurricane Milton on insurers and the potential losses for catastrophe-bond investors. "It's up to 15%, that's what we thought earlier. Cautiously, we would say it's likely, likely less," Wrosch told Bloomberg Television. "It played out in the end a bit better."
Twelve Capital has a $5 billion portfolio, including $3.8 billion of catastrophe bonds. The Swiss asset manager said previously that insured losses from Milton could be anywhere from $40 billion to $150 billion, with corresponding cat-bond market losses of 2% to 15%.
