#Gaza - Report from Gaza: Palestinians Feel They Are Being "Slowly Exterminated" in Israel's Genocide: Democracy Now

14 November 2024

We go to Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, where we get an update from Arwa Damon of the humanitarian organization INARA on "deteriorating conditions" as Palestinians are "slowly exterminated" by disease and starvation caused by Israel's brutal siege.

A special U.N. committee has found that Israel's actions in Gaza are "consistent with the characteristics of genocide."

Palestinians in Gaza feel that "they are living through their own annihilation," says Damon. "There is actually a real sense that the worst is yet to come." Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs on over 1,500 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday.

#israel #gaza #palestine - Yanis Varoufakis on Israel-Palestine: the truth behind October 7: DiEM25

11 October 2024

On October 7th, 2023, the global narrative surrounding Palestine underwent a profound shift. In this powerful video, Yanis Varoufakis unpacks the media and political bias that portrays events in Gaza as isolated incidents, ignoring the ongoing realities of occupation and the struggle for Palestinian freedom. Varoufakis emphasizes the critical need to distinguish between legitimate resistance to oppression and actions that breach international law. He delves into the escalating violence faced by Palestinians and critiques the international community’s complicity, particularly the role of the U.S. in enabling the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by Israel. Drawing on historical parallels with colonialism in the U.S., South Africa, and Australia, Varoufakis calls for a fundamental re-evaluation of Western perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He argues that the fight for Palestinian liberation is not just a regional issue but a crucial step toward global justice and humanity.

#gaza #israel - “The First Live-Streamed Genocide”: Al Jazeera Exposes War Crimes Israeli Troops Filmed Themselves: Democracy Now

A new documentary from Al Jazeera takes a look at evidence of war crimes in Gaza in the form of social media posted by Israeli soldiers recording and celebrating their own attacks on Palestinians.

We play excerpts from the film Investigating War Crimes in Gaza, now available online, and speak to two of the journalists involved in its production, director Richard Sanders and Gaza-based correspondent Youmna ElSayed. “Israelis themselves were telling us precisely what they were doing and why they were doing it,” says Sanders about the evidence the team reviewed.

“They don’t think it’s complicated. They don’t think it’s nuanced. Their rhetoric is often overtly genocidal.” ElSayed adds, “They’ve had all the courage to do that because they know that they are not even going to be condemned.” Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs on over 1,500 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. #photography #gaza - Motaz Azaiza, Acclaimed Journalist from Gaza, on Photographing War & Making “Art from the Pain”: Democracy Now

9 October 2024

“I never expected the world will know my name [because of] a genocide of my people,” says Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza, who gained international acclaim for his work during the first 108 days of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza.

Since evacuating in January, Azaiza has brought his advocacy for Palestinian rights around the world. Democracy Now! speaks to him from Washington, D.C., where he has just wrapped up a nationwide speaking tour titled “Gaza Through My Lens” in support of UNRWA USA. “Israel is targeting our children.

Israel is targeting our babies, targeting our mothers, targeting our families. I just want to show the whole world so maybe I can bring help to my people through my photography,” Azaiza says.

#documentary - Starving Gaza: How Israel’s man-made famine is killing Palestinians | Fault Lines Documentary

29 September 2024

Ahmed Nasser is one of a handful of doctors in north Gaza treating scores of children for malnutrition. The odds of saving lives are against him as he does not have the resources he needs. Israel has cut off food, fuel and water, resulting in a man-made famine that is unprecedented in its scale and pace.

Every Palestinian in Gaza is food insecure and dozens have died from dehydration and malnutrition. Israel and its closest ally, the United States, deny that Israel is blocking humanitarian aid, which is a war crime. But we worked with Palestinian reporters in Gaza and used open-source data to investigate how Israel has killed civilians seeking aid and attacked humanitarian networks. #Gaza #US #documentary #palestine #israel #humanitarian #war

#gaza #israel - Israel insists on control of Gaza's Egypt border | BBC News

5 September 2024

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that Israeli forces will not leave the Philadelphi Corridor - a strategically important strip of land in southern Gaza along the border with Egypt. He said that he is “open” to considering alternatives to the presence of Israeli troops along the Gaza-Egypt border, as part of any future permanent ceasefire deal – but that he did not see it happening. Hamas said that Netanyahu's decision not to withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor is an attempt to thwart the ceasefire agreement.

#Israel - Netanyahu calls UK arms suspension to Israel ‘shameful’ | BBC News

x

3 September 2024

The UK has defended its decision to suspend some arms sales to Israel. On 2 September, it suspended around 30 out of 350 weapons export licences to Israel, saying there is a "clear risk" the equipment could be used to commit serious violations of international law. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the decision "shameful", saying on social media that it "will only embolden Hamas". But UK Defence Secretary John Healey insisted the UK remained a "staunch ally" of Israel, telling the BBC Israel's security would not be weakened by the decision. Husam Zomlot, the Palestinians' top envoy to the UK, called the partial ban an “important first step” to the UK’s fulfilment of its “legal obligations under domestic and international law”.

Israel on Sunday said it had recovered the bodies of six hostages in Gaza whose deaths it blamed on Hamas. The Palestinian militant group has meanwhile denied Israel’s claim while a senior Hamas official said the hostages would still be alive if Israel had accepted a US- backed ceasefire proposal. “There is a sort of blame game on what exactly happened to the six hostages,” FRANCE 24 International Affairs Editor Kethevane Gorjestani said in an analysis.

Today the Jews are still seeking out the Nazi´s in every corner of the world to bring them to justice for their war crimes committed during the second world war.

Of the 1.500.000 Palestinians, residents of Gaza., how many will be seeking out the murders of their children, wives or husbands in the years to come? Hopefully to bring the culprits of these atrocious war crimes to justice rather than take the law into their own hands, althought religion does say "an eye for an eye"
