Hezbollah left the door open on Tuesday to a negotiated ceasefire with Israel after Israeli forces raised the stakes in the conflict with its Iran-backed enemy by making new incursions in the south of Lebanon. In what could be the latest in a series of major blows to Hezbollah, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said it appeared the replacement for slain Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had been "eliminated". Hashem Safieddine, a top Hezbollah official, was widely expected to succeed Nasrallah.

Russia's intelligence agency has been on a mission to generate "mayhem on British and European streets", the head of MI5 has said, as he warned the UK faces the most "complex and interconnected" threat it has ever seen. There has also been 20 Iran-backed plots since 2022, the director general Ken McCallum said. He said the complex mix of terror-related threats and threats from nation states meant that MI5 had "one hell of a job on its hands". A total of 43 late-stage attack plots on the UK have been foiled since 2017, he said, with some plotters trying to "get hold of firearms and explosives".

Is The Illusionist a good movie?

If nothing else, The Illusionist is worth watching solely for Giamatti's Oscar-caliber performance . Fresh score. Fresh score. A wonderful period film first and secondarily an interesting mystery-romance that keeps you guessing about the big questions until late in the narrative.
