Russia's gas transit to Europe via Ukraine has stopped as planned, after a key transit agreement expired at midnight.

The pipeline was one of the last routes delivering Russian gas to Europe, supplying Slovakia and also Hungary -- two countries that have maintained close ties with Russia, despite its invasion of Ukraine.

Kyiv had made it clear it would not renew the deal amid the war in the interests of national security.

#USA - Suspect in New Orleans attack dead and FBI investigating as 'act of terrorism' | BBC News

The FBI has released a statement which says the person who drove a car into a crowd of people in New Orleans, killing 10, is dead and the attack is being investigated as an "act of terrorism". The statement says that the person "engaged with local law enforcement and is now deceased". Police say the driver was "hell-bent on creating the carnage he did" and also opened fire on officers.
