The firm intends to continue the design and development of the proposed 950-mile transmission line that will deliver wind energy generated in eastern Wyoming to California and various parts the southwestern United States.

USA -- payroll tax break for 160 million US workers battle heats up

Despite the fact that over the weekend the upper house, the Senate, overwhelmingly voted to delay until February an increase in that payroll tax -- which goes towards pension provisions.

Without congressional action the tax workers pay into the Social Security federal retirement programme will rise to 6.2 percent on Jan. 1, from 4.2 percent.

Sweden - Troubled car maker Saab files for bankruptcy

Troubled Swedish car maker Saab has filed for bankruptcy after failing to secure fresh funds from potential Chinese investors.

General Motors (GM), which owns part of Saab, did not want Chinese car makers accessing technology licences.

Production has been suspended at Saab's main plant in Trollhattan, Sweden, since April as the company has struggled to pay its suppliers.

Workers have complained that they have not been paid since last month.
