Synopsis

Louyre – This Our Still Life is a portrait of a tumbledown Pyrenean farmhouse as seen through the eyes and ears of the family that have lived there on and off for the last 22 years. With music by Scanner and a plethora of cut-ups and voices from the filmmaker’s sound archive the work explores notions of nostalgia, memory and place.

Jamie longs for an escape from the violence and hopelessness that surrounds him and his salvation arrives in the form of John, a charismatic man who unexpectedly comes to his aid. As John spends more and more time with Jamie's family, Elizabeth and her boys begin to experience a stability and sense of family that they have never known. John moves from the role of Jamie's protector to that of a mentor, indoctrinating Jamie into his world, a world brimming with bigotry, righteousness and malice. Like a son mimicking his father, Jamie soon begins to take on some of John's traits and beliefs as he spends more and more time with him and his select group of friends...

http://www.euronews.net/ Syria appears increasingly isolated after Jordan's King Abdullah became the first Arab leader to call on President Bashar al-Assad to step down.

With the anti-Assad unrest crippling Syria's economy and the death toll among civilians rising, King Abdullah urged Assad to go to make way for political reforms.

Syria's suspension from the Arab league has also come as a blow to Assad who has always seen himself as a champion of Arab unity.To make matters worse Syrian opposition figures are to meet League leaders today.

سورية يبدو في عزلة متزايدة بعد ان العاهل الاردني الملك عبد الله أصبح أول زعيم عربي على دعوة الرئيس السوري بشار الاسد الى التنحي.

مع الاقتصاد الاضطرابات المناهضة لسوريا الاسد ويشل عدد القتلى في صفوف المدنيين في الارتفاع ، وحث الملك عبد الله الأسد للذهاب لافساح الطريق لاجراء اصلاحات سياسية.

لقد حان تعليق سوريا من الجامعة العربية أيضا بمثابة ضربة لالأسد الذي رأى نفسه دائما باعتباره بطلا للunity.To العربية مما زاد الطين بلة شخصيات المعارضة السورية ومن المقرر ان يجتمع قادة الرابطة اليوم.
