the VISA virus continues

VISA who make money from Porn sites (exposed by the BBC), but through their actions stopped an 18 month/80 letter relationship with a lady from Gorlovka Ukraine have struck me again.

I have paid my company fees since 1981 using my VISA card without any problems. Went to pay this year and this was the reply that I received from the registrar.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your email. Please note that your card could not be charged because of a security system called "Verified by Visa". We are not authorized to process your credit card payments for you since, only the cardholder can use the Visa card online. We suggest that you contact the issuer of your card for more information.

Please note our apologies for this inconvenience. Unfortunately, it was our understanding that this initiative is being driven by the card issuer’s banks and is not an issue under our control. It is certainly not a feature that we have requested as it prevents us from charging client cards. At the moment we only run into this problem for certain cards but it does appear to be a growing feature. We are looking into alternative credit card payment options.

I have made a complaint to my credit card company in May 2009 and they have promised me an answer by October 2nd 2009. I am still waiting. If they are doing the same with their porn site customers they must be loosing a lot of money through their security system which is obviously not working properly
