Dare you to keep your feet still while watching How She Move, a rip-roaring salute to Jamaican-influenced step-dancing with an infectious backbeat. The film will appeal to fans of other dance tributes like Stomp the Yard but also to fans of High School Musical, Bring It On and other teen let's-put-on-a-show empowerment films. The story is set in Toronto's thriving Caribbean-immigrant community, though there are nods to American 'hoods as well. While the drama is a bit short on plot, there's no shortage of action or star power. The film's lead, the dynamic Rutina Wesley, plays Raya Green, an honors student whose life is shattered by the death of her sister, and by her unwilling return from her private school to her urban neighborhood. But young Raya's spirit is indomitable, as shows the tough neighborhood boys she's every bit a dance force to be reckoned with as they are. Her dancing gives this film its sweet patina of grrl power on top of its fabulous choreographed moves. Also don't miss the great soundtrack, featuring Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. How she move? Pretty darn great. --A.T. Hurley

How She Move is a 2007 drama film directed by Ian Iqbal Rashid and starring Rutina Wesley, Clé Bennett and Romina D'Ugo. The film showcases the street culture of step dancing. The film is produced by Celluloid Dreams, Sienna Films, Paramount Vantage and MTV Films

Watched it for the second time tonight and yes this is one to have in your DVD collection and maybe also in your CD collection. Well by now I guess my visitors know my choice of music.

into the wild - trailer

In 1990, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), a college graduate from Emory University, rejects a materialist, conventional life, and his parents Walt (William Hurt) and Billie McCandless (Marcia Gay Harden), whom McCandless perceives as having betrayed him by entrapping him in a future of traditional lifestyle.

Nearly two years after leaving his family, McCandless crosses a stream in a remote area of Alaska and sets up camp in an abandoned Fairbanks Transit bus which he encounters. Initially McCandless is exhilarated by the isolation.  Eventually he realizes that nature is also harsh and uncaring and in the pain of realization seeks to return from the wild to his friends and family. McCandless finds that the stream which he crossed in the snow has become wide, deep, and violent due to the thaw, and he cannot return. Supplies run out and he is forced to gather and eat roots and plants aided by a book to help him to distinguish edible from inedible, but he makes a mistake and eats the wrong plant -  the book after the event advises him that his mistake will cause him "starvation and death". He was found 2 weeks after he died by moose hunters.

Having seen Charlie Rose interview Sean Penn and his work in Haiti I think that he was the right person to direct this film. Why do I say "the sins of the parents?" Christopher and his sister find out that they are bastards and did not like their parents love of money. As always the children are the ones that suffer.

  • What Christopher McCandless achived in his lifetime, very few have the courage to even try. One very simple, but also very powerful message i toke from this movie is: "if you want something in life, reach out and grab it".el3ktricmind 1 week ago 21
but this I think is the point

Enough - watched this movie tonight - "but then I am a J Lo fan:)

An abused woman (Lopez) discovers that the dream man (Campbell) she married isn't who she thought he was. She and her daughter try to escape (aided by her previous boyfriend, played by Futterman), but he pursues her relentlessly. Fearing also for the safety of her daughter, she decides that there's only one way out of the marriage: kill him. Fred Ward has a guest-starring role. Trailer

People seem to like to "knock" J.Lo but this movie did not send me to sleep so in my opinion it was good:) Would you like to express your opinion?
