Poland - Opposition to EU's new fiscal treaty

Published on Dec 13, 2011 by
http://www.euronews.net/ Euro-sceptic Poles voice their opposition to closer European integration at a mass rally in central Warsaw.

If Germany and France thought the UK was alone in objecting to their new fiscal deal, they can look no further than central Europe to see more discord.

Demonstrator Andrzej Hadacz complained:" We've heard strange announcements by Foreign Minister Sikorski who says that he wants to give part of Polish sovereignty to Brussels, so that they will be governing us over here. This is a scandal and should be punished."

Fed likely to skip fresh stimulus
Published on Dec 13, 2011 by
http://www.euronews.net/ Analysts say the Federal Reserve is likely to hold off from fresh stimulus measures for the US economy at its meeting today.

The feeling is that Ben Bernanke and the other central bank policymakers will continue to talk about how they can achieve more from the monetary easing they have already put in place.

Even less likely is the prospect of a new round of bond buying, although many analysts think that will happen eventually too.

There are some encouraging signs of recovery in the US but worries about the effects from Europe's problems.
