KKR (NYSE:KKR) - led Group to Acquire Samson for $7.2 Billion

An investor group consisting of KKR (NYSE:KKR), Natural Gas Partners, Crestview Partners and Itochu Corporation, together comprising "the Investor Group," announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Samson Investment Company, one of the largest private exploration and production companies in the United States, for $7.2 billion.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Investor Group will acquire all of Samson's assets with the exception of its onshore Gulf Coast and offshore deep-water Gulf of Mexico assets, which will continue to be owned by the Schusterman family.

As part of the transaction, the Investor Group has committed to keep the company's headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the Company and its employees have deep ties to the community in which they work and operate.

Upon completing the sale, David Adams will be named CEO of Samson and the company will be renamed Samson Resources. The agreement is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of Q4.

James Murdoch has resigned from his role on the boards of News Group Newspapers Limited (NASDAQ:NWSA), which publishes The Sun and Times Newspapers Limited and used to operate the News of the World, the London Evening Standard reports.

Murdoch is also facing quits as chairman of BskyB at next week's annual general meeting.

News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) has potential upside of 31% based on a current price of $15.99 and an average consensus analyst price target of $20.95.

News Corp should find initial resistance at its 50-day moving average (MA) of $16.66 and further resistance at its 200-day MA of $16.78.

http://www.euronews.net/ Energy giant Royal Dutch Shell agreed an oil and gas exploration deal with Turkish state petroleum firm TPAO on Wednesday.

Shell will search for oil and gas offshore in the Mediterranean and onshore in southeast Turkey.

The agreement could heighten tensions with the Greek Cypriot government of Cyprus, which Turkey does not recognise.

It angered Ankara by launching exploratory drilling off the south coast of the divided island in September.
