The world-renowned playwright and politician Vaclav Havel becomes first director to transfer to the screen game that successfully bring domestic and international scenes. Meeting Vaclav Havel with the film director, in his words - at the end of his public career - is somewhat symbolic. His family, especially in the person of his uncle Milos Havel, is closely associated with the development of Czechoslovak film and the construction of the domestic film industry during the First Republic, the author himself from an early age wanted to become a film director, period ratios, however, thwarted him how the study and implementation of this long-standing desire .
It is also the first time that Vaclav Havel, the author's vision of his own interpretation. "A play is a kind of blank, the author offers theaters, and that you do with it after her," says Vaclav Havel and provides an explanation of why he decided to try film directing. "I think the author has humbly endure. Can not bear the interpretation of someone others, is to write novels, not plays. After many decades of my game play so, I felt a desire finally to interpret itself. And the film, which to me means some inner satisfaction. Originally, and indeed the whole life I wanted to be mainly filmmaker. And now I'm probably true. "
Leaving The story is the story of a turning point in human life. Dr. William Rieger for many years held the office of chancellor, but recently came to her and apparently with it internally can not cope. While trying not to show it, he basically collapsed the world. They must move from a government villa, which has over the years became his home, and must participate in government-issue unworthy of treatments separating things from things private. It also - and mainly - to experience decay of his surroundings, his "Justice" and realize how little he actually knew.
The film is not just about leaving one of the policy function, but more generally the phenomenon of change itself: every second something comes and goes something forever, we know where everything emerges and even fewer know where it plunges. Actually, for the classical theme of the drama, which is the end. The end of man. End of an era. End of a community. The end of love.

Konec epochy. Konec nějakého společenství. Konec lásky.
