Police in London have arrested a 31-year-old man after the Swiss bank UBS announced they had lost 1.5 billion euros through unauthorised dealing.




He has been named as Kweku Adoboli, who is described in an internet profile as a director of exchange traded funds in its London office.




The bank's website announced the loss just before trading opened, and its shares plummeted eight per cent.

Spain today - Demand in Spain for country's long-term bonds

In a closely watched auction Spain's treasury has sold 3.95 billion euros of long-term sovereign bonds.




The figure almost topped its highest sales target of four billion euros but were still forced to pay relatively high yields to attract investors.




With sharp focus on Greece investors and analysts are anxiously watching Spain and Italy to see if they still have access to debt markets at reasonable rates of interest....

Libiya today - Cameron and Sarkozy arrive in Tripoli and plan to visit Benghazi later today

In Libya Prime Minister David Cameron has flown into Tripoli followed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.




The two leaders who spearheaded the West's military intervention are the first senior foreign leaders to visit the country since the toppling of Muammar Gaddafi.




It is understood they will meet National Transitional Council leaders in Tripoli, before flying to Benghazi, where they are expected to speak in the former rebel stronghold's Liberty Square.
