I just received a Skype chat invite from the man listed above. I did a google search on him and found this site. He has contacted me twice under the name 'Gen. Larson Spencer' using a blurry picture of him in military dress (picture in previous post!), and under the name 'Miller' in civilian wear and a scarf. Beware of this man and his aliases!

These photos are stolen from the internet. The fact that you have photos of this does not mean that he had sent them. The soldier died in 2004. I checked it .. I know it.

The Internet http://en.wikipedia..ance_scam
Scammers post profiles on dating websites to groom new victims. Upon finding victims, scammers lure them to more private means of communication, (such as providing an e-mail address) to allow for fraud to occur.

.
The scammers who used to send us the emails are now finding their victims through legitimate dating and auction sites. In what have become known as romance scams, once the fraudsters hook their victim they use voice-changing devices to hide Nigerian accents or employ sophisticated software to make victims believe they are video chatting with attractive models.

.
Last year, consumer watchdog the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission received reports that put money lost to romance scams at more than $22 million, with an average loss of $21,000 per victim. read on http://aussiecrimin..fee-fraud/

Fake US Soldiers Robbing Women Online

usgovinfo.about.com/.../fake-us-soldier...

Robert Longley
24/10/2011 – Victims who ask to actually talk to the fake soldiers are told the Army does not ... have been victimized by a fake soldier scammer, you can report the incident to ...
Extract:

Report Them: All forms of financial fraud, which is exactly what these fake, "love for money" soldiers are trying to pull, can now be reported through the StopFraud.gov website: http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html
.
While the Army CID offers a complete list of what to look for in these scams, the best advice is: Never send money! Be extremely suspicious if you are asked for money for transportation costs, communication fees or marriage processing and medical fees.
.
"Another critical issue is we don't want victims who do not report this crime walking away and thinking that a U.S. serviceman has ripped them off when in fact that serviceman is honorable serving his country and often not aware that his pictures or identity have been stolen," added Grey.

Report the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission on Nigerian Scams.

A recent variant is the Romance Scam, which is a money-for-romance angle. The con artist approaches the victim on an online dating service, an Instant messenger (like Yahoo IM), or a social networking site. The scammer claims an interest in the victim, and posts pictures posted of an attractive person (not themselves). The scammer uses this communication to gain confidence, then asks for money. The con artist may claim to be interested in meeting the victim, but needs cash to book a plane, hotel room, or other expenses. In other cases, they claim they're trapped in a foreign country and need assistance to return, to escape imprisonment by corrupt local officials, to pay for medical expenses due to an illness contracted abroad, and so on. The scammer may also use the confidence gained by the romance angle to introduce some variant of the original Nigerian Letter scheme, such as saying they need to get money or valuables out of the country and offer to share the wealth, making the request for help in leaving the country even more attractive to the victim. In a newer version of the scam, the con artist claims to have 'information' about the fidelity of a person's significant other, which they will share for a fee. This information is garnered through social networking sites by using search parameters such as 'In a relationship' or 'Married'. Anonymous e-mails are first sent to attempt to verify receipt, then a new web based e-mail account is sent along with directions on how to retrieve the information.
