A recession is likely following the UK’s decision to leave the EU says the head of trading at ETX Capital in London, although the market has received some comfort after finance minister George Osborne insisted the country would not rush into a break-up with the bloc.

Weapons shipped into Jordan by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Saudi Arabia intended for Syrian rebels have been systematically stolen by Jordanian intelligence operatives and sold to arms merchants on the black market, according to American and Jordanian officials.

A joint investigation by Al Jazeera and The New York Times has revealed the theft.
