Fighting broke out on Tuesday at the end of a major demonstration that gathered tens of thousands in the center of Brussels to protest the center-right government's social and economic policies.

At the end of the peaceful rally that gathered some 50,000 people, a few dozen started throwing rocks at police and scuffles broke out among protesters.

At least one policeman was injured and several protesters.

Police used water cannons to disperse protesters.

Greek authorities have began an operation to clear the country's largest refugee camp of Idomeni - on the Macedonian border - after sending in more than 400 riot police.

The camp, which sprung up at an informal pedestrian border crossing for refugees heading north to Europe, is home to an at least 8,400 people - including hundreds of children - mostly from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
