Russell Grant's Daily Horoscopes for Wednesday 18th January 2012

.
Aries (Mar21/Apr20) A friend who is always late or forgetful lets you down again. At this point, you must decide whether this relationship is really worth your time. You're not the type who can stand around patiently waiting for someone to show up. Of course, you should be honest about why you want to part ways. As crazy as it sounds, this inconsiderate creature won't understand how their behaviour has inconvenienced you. Some people are so self obsessed they'll never learn the art of diplomacy.

  .
Taurus (Apr21/May21) You're not getting a lot of support from a colleague, which is really frustrating. At times, you feel like you're being treated like a rival, rather than a collaborator. Maybe there is some truth to that. You've been blessed with impressive creative abilities. No matter how much a workmate tries, they'll never be able to outshine you. Don't apologise for your abilities. Continue to flaunt them, even if it means your relationship becomes more intense.
  .
Gemini (May22/Jun21) You must acquire more practical skills before landing a high powered job. Fortunately, you're a fast learner and should have no trouble mastering lessons. Still, it may take some time before you earn an official degree. That's a difficult prospect for a restless person like you. Still, when you consider the value of having a stimulating career, the sacrifice is worth it. Explore programs that will help you command prestigious work, and take tuition into consideration.
  .
Cancer (Jun22/Jul23) Pay careful attention to joint finances. If you've run up a lot of credit card debt without your partner's knowledge, come clean. The two of you can devise a plan for paying off the balance as quickly as possible. Do you really want to put your relationship in jeopardy for the sake of pride? If you have a problem with spending beyond your means, devise strategies for staying solvent. Find ways to fill your time that don't involve shopping.

Leo (Jul24/Aug23) No matter how much you try to help your best friend or lover, they'll never change. You'll have to leave them to their own devices. It pains you to stand idly by while they struggle, but coming to their rescue will only compound the problem. Everybody needs to accept the consequences for their actions. When others swoop in to protect them from danger, they fail to learn valuable lessons. Remember, caring about somebody doesn't mean acting as their saviour.
  .
Virgo (Aug24/Sep23) Normally, you're vigilant about details. You're the type to double check your work before handing it in. Right now it's hard to focus. You can't get your mind off a special person who has captured your imagination. Instead of attending to your chores, you're daydreaming about the next time you'll see your amour. Be careful about dropping your standards. Follow instructions to the letter, and ask for clarification if you're confused.
  .
Libra (Sep24/Oct23) Resist the urge to enter into a romance with an obviously troubled person. Yes, you find their situation incredibly sad, but much of it is self imposed. By holding out for someone who can support themselves and handle life's daily challenges, you'll fare much better. Don't let the martyr in question make you feel guilty for turning them down. You have every right to choose the lover that's best for you. Don't defend your decision when you know you're right.
  .
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) This is not a good time to decide any property matters. Whether you want to buy, sell, or rent, there will be hidden aspects of the deal that will ultimately work against you. You're better off holding out for an agreement that clearly delineates your rights and obligations. If you're going to buy a place, have it inspected by a respected professional before signing any papers. Structures that look good to the naked eye can have costly problems like mould and wood rot.
  .
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) It's time to see things as they really are, not the way you'd like them to be. You're being forced to face some unpleasant realities. Perhaps someone you trusted has betrayed you. Maybe an executive has abused their power. It's even possible you've been robbed of valuable resources. Whatever the source of your anxiety, you've got to adopt a more practical view. Don't entrust people with your deepest secrets and precious possessions until they've proved their loyalty.
  .
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) You've got to be a lot more vigilant about your finances. It's not enough to spend all your pay or live up to your monthly allowance. You've got to put a portion of your income into savings, where it will gather interest and protect you from unforeseen emergencies. If you're not sure where to begin, take a course in money management. You've got a very practical mind, and should apply it towards protecting your interests. Nobody will handle your money better than you.
  .
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Don't let your imagination run away with you. You might be caught up in a work related intrigue. Ultimately, it is a tempest in a teapot. You're better off channelling your energy into your day to day responsibilities. By refusing to get into a power struggle, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. You might want to stay away from the newspapers and television. All the terrible world events have a terrible effect on your outlook.
  .
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) You're extremely sensitive, which can cause setbacks. Often, you use your intuition to discover hidden opportunities and privileged information. Now your instincts are prompting you to doubt people you should trust. Just because someone is critical of your work doesn't mean they are your enemy. It's entirely possible these comments come out of a real desire to help you. Resist the urge to lash out whenever they advise you to alter your approach.

Egypt - Mubarak 'not a tyrant', defence lawyer tells trial

Published on Jan 17, 2012 by

The former Egyptian President was again wheeled into court on a hospital trolley for his latest appearance at his trial.

He listened to the defence argue there was no legal case against him.

Unlike previous occasions when cameras have been present, this was a closed session.

Mubarak is a man with clean hands and a pure heart, the lawyer said, claiming the case was only brought because of public pressure.
