Iran - Deadly car bomb explodes in Tehran close to the Allameh Tabatai University

http://www.euronews.net/ A car bomb exploded in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Wednesday, killing at least one person and wounding several others.

State media quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a motorcyclist attached the bomb to a passing car before detonating the device.

It happened close to the Allameh Tabatai University in the east of the city.

The person killed is believed to be a professor who worked there.

Analysts will study the figures closely to see if the gynaecologist can build momentum. In 2008 he failed to win a caucus or primary. He believes this time around he is making progress.

It means together with last week's win in Iowa, Romney has taken a crucial step towards the Republican presidential nomination.

He is the first non-incumbent to win both states and bodes well for the next contest in South Carolina.

In his victory speech he took a swipe at President Obama, criticising him for failing to deliver over the last few years.

Syria - Assad speech denounced by opposition

In Turkey, prominent Syrian dissident and former judge Haitham al-Maleh thought the content could not be taken seriously.

"His speech is made up of propaganda and lies," he said. "He wants to say to the international community and to the Arab community that he is good and he is going to change but he will not. He is not going to do anything."

Also in Istanbul, there was condemnation from the largest opposition group, the Syrian National Council.
