Egypt - Calm in Cairo after dawn raid in Tahrir Square

http://www.euronews.net/ A relative calm has reportedly returned to Cairo's Tahrir Square after four days of deadly violence.

At least ten people have been killed and hundreds more wounded in clashes between security troops and protesters demanding an end to military rule.

The unrest has cast a shadow over Egypt's first free election in decades, with several countries condemning an excessive use of force. Overnight police dispersed demonstrators using live rounds, according to one witness.

Some of the world's most endangered birds have been given a new home in the UK after a journey from Russia's Far East.

There are thought to be fewer than 200 spoon-billed sandpipers left in the world.

Now 13 have been brought to the Slimbridge Wetlands Centre in Gloucestershire.

A young Bangladeshi woman, whose husband is accused of cutting off her fingers after she began a college course without his permission, has spoken to the BBC about her determination to carry on with her studies.

The attack on Hawa Akther Jui, 21, is the latest in a series of acts of domestic violence targeting educated women in the country.
