"Sometimes the person you least expect can help you find your way home." Fred Daly lives a quiet, lonely life in his car. But that changes when Cathal arrives in a little yellow car and becomes his neighbour. A dope-smoking 21 year old with positive attitude, Cathal seems determined to make Fred sort his life out. And it works. As Cathal's infectious energy rubs off on him, Fred modifies his car into a home, beats the welfare system and makes a friend in Jules, an attractive music teacher who lives alone nearby. But Fred struggles with his pride to tell Jules about his 'home' as Cathal's life is threatened by his escalating drug habit. Industrialist Adam (Richard E. Grant) isn't short of a few quid. Which is why he can afford to live in a sumptuous country pile.

But that doesn't mean he's happy. In fact, he's a frustrated opera singer. Stung by jibes that he's just a stuffed suit, he decides to celebrate his artistic side by staging an opera in the grounds of his rural retreat.

This also gives him the opportunity to get close to Celia (Sarah Brightman), the conductor he's been pursuing. And he's delighted when she becomes the first to sign up for the production.

Recruitng a cast of bright young things, they set about staging a performance of 'Cosi fan tutte'. Mozart's great comic opera takes seduction, desire and infidelity as its themes -- and it's not long before life has begun to imitate art.

Plot:
A fresh, modern-day coming-of-age tale focusing on 17-year-old force of nature Emelia (newcomer Jessica Brown Findlay) who bursts into the lives of the dysfunctional Fischer family when she is hired to work in their guest house in a sleepy town on the South Coast. Beth Fischer (Felicity Jones), also seventeen, is cramming for her A-Levels, in a desperate bid to escape to University, whilst dad Jonathan (Sebastian Koch), once a best-selling author, is suffering from writer's block much to the annoyance of frustrated mum Joa (Julia Ormond) who runs the hotel and laments the promising acting career she once left behind.

Aspiring writer Emelia has been bought up by her grandparents and is under the impression that she is the great granddaughter of renowned novelist Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Jonathan sees promise in Emelia and begins to tutor her, as Beth becomes enamoured with her forthright friend and decides to take her along on a visit to Oxford University - with hilariously raucous results.

As Emelia's confidence and free-spirit help Beth learn to enjoy life beyond studying, Emelia too is inspired by Beth's determination and focus and she begins to see a way to break through her self-destructive tendencies. However, when Emelia and Jonathan begin an illicit affair, the girls' friendship is threatened.

Can Emelia and Beth escape the ties of small town existence and free themselves of the Albatross around their necks?
