"Super" trailer - in UK Cinemas Friday 8th July 2011 - Starring: Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Michael Rooker

Rainn Wilson is a sad-sack superhero wannabe in James Gunn's comic book satire movie, Super. Check out the hilarious trailer.

Super (2010 American film)

Plot

The film opens with short order cook Frank D'Arbo (Wilson) telling the audience of the only two good memories he's had in a life of disappointment and shame-marrying his beautiful wife Sarah (Tyler) and an incident in which he directed some cops to catch a purse snatcher. These memories are depicted as two childlike crayon illustrations that Frank hangs on his wall.
.
Later on, Sarah, a recovering addict, leaves Frank for Jacques (Bacon), a charismatic strip club owner who gets her hooked on drugs. Frank sinks into depression, where he has a vision in which he is touched by the hand of God and meets the Holy Avenger (Fillion), a superhero from a public-access television show on the All-Jesus Network. He tells Frank that God has chosen him for a very special purpose. Frank later seeks the advice of Libby (Page), a neurotic comic book shop employee, under the pretense that he is designing a new superhero. Frank suits up in a patchwork costume, calling himself the Crimson Bolt. Armed with a wrench, he goes on a crime-fighting spree, brutally bludgeoning everyone from drug dealers, child molesters, and even those who butt in line. The Crimson Bolt soon becomes a media sensation. He later attempts to rescue Sarah, but Jacques' thugs recognize him under the costume and end up shooting him in the leg.
.
A wounded Frank goes to Libby for help and protection as his home is no longer safe with Jacques' thugs looking for him. Libby volunteers herself to be Frank's "kid sidekick" despite his objections, christening herself as Boltie. She proves to be even more unhinged than Frank, using her superhero guise to almost kill a man who may or may not have keyed her friend's car. Frank decides to let her go, but changes his mind when Libby rescues him from some of Jacques' thugs at a gas station by slamming his car into their legs. Libby soon becomes enamored with Frank, but her advances are turned down as Frank insists that he is still married. Deciding it is different when they are in their superhero identities, Libby ends up raping Frank in full costume. Going in the bathroom to vomit, Frank encounters a vision of Sarah in the toilet and decides that now is the time to rescue her from Jacques.
.
Armed with extensive weaponry, explosives and bulletproof vests, Frank and Libby make an attack on Jacques' ranch, killing most of his men. At one point, they are both shot; Frank's bullet proof vest gets hit, sparing him, but Libby's face is partially blown off, killing her. Devastated by her death, Frank goes into a rage, killing the rest of the thugs. Inside he has a final showdown with Jacques. Jacques shoots Frank and wounds him. Frank gains the upper hand, though, and stabs Jacques after a final monologue. Frank takes Sarah home, and she stays with him for a few months before leaving him again. This time, however, she manages to finally overcome her addiction and uses her experiences to help others with similar problems. She marries again and has children, but Frank is happy for her and decides that the reason why God chose him was so that he could rescue Sarah and help her get on with her life.
.
The film ends on a similar note as it began, with Frank, now with a pet bunny, looking on his wall of happy memories. Only this time, instead of two isolated drawings, Frank's entire wall is covered with pictures of his experiences from his time spent with Libby to pictures of Sarah's kids, who call him 'Uncle Frank'. The film closes on Frank smiling with a tear running down his cheek.

"Last Year in Marienbad" trailer - in UK Cinemas Friday 8th July 2011 - Starring: Delphine Seyrig, Giorgio Albertazzi, Sacha Pitoëff, Françoise Bertin, Luce Garcia-Ville

Uploaded by on Jun 8, 2011
Defining the words 'art film' for a generation, Marienbad is every bit as extraordinary today as when it was premiered in Venice, 50 years ago this August.

The plot is banal and, as in Hiroshima, the characters have no names. X (Albertazzi) pursues A (Seyrig) through the endless corridors of a luxury hotel, trying to persuade her that they met last year, while M (Pitoëff), who may be A's husband, looks on. But, in the eternal present of Robbe-Grillet's screenplay, drenched in the organ score by Francis Seyrig (brother of Delphine), there can be no 'last year' (and probably no future either). Don't miss the chance to see this timeless masterpiece on the big screen, for which the inky blacks and flaring whites of Sacha Vierny's cinematography were made. There is, quite simply, no other movie like it.

Last Year in Marienbad will be re-released by the BFI on 8 July 2011.

Plot

From the opening colonic irrigation scene, it's clear that Sawako Decides will be one of the more unusual Japanese films of the year. In fact, in a year in which the creativity in Japanese mainstream cinema all but curled up and died, it's a real stand-out: a joyous, nuanced, comic drama about female empowerment

SCAM ALERT "A bogus website is trying to con UK investors using the famous Invesco Perpetual brand"

23:09, Monday 4 July 2011 - Original article

A bogus website is trying to con investors using the famous Invesco Perpetual brand.

The FSA has issued a consumer alert after it emerged that a rogue outfit is trying to pass itself off as Henley (Other OTC: HYNLZ.PK) -on-Thames investment manager InvescoPerpetual. It is trying to sell two funds an Invesco Asian Precious Metals Fund and an Invesco Gold and Precious Metals Fund via a website: www.invescoperpetualfunds.com

In the alert the City regulator has confirmed that the company is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) to carry on a regulated activity in the UK.

It added: "We believe that the organisation may be targeting UK customers. The entity named above is using the details of an FSA authorised firm. The Invesco Group of Companies and, specifically, the following FSA authorised firms have no association whatsoever with the organisation identifying itself as Invesco Perpetual."
Invesco Perpetual issued the following statement on its website.

It said: "We've heard that some investors are being approached by people who say they're calling from Invesco Perpetual. These unsolicited calls have been trying to persuade individuals to invest money in bogus funds that share the same or similar names to genuine Invesco (NYSE: IVZ) /Invesco Perpetual funds or in funds that use the Invesco/Invesco Perpetual name (e.g. Invesco Asian Precious Metals Fund or the Invesco Gold and Precious Metals Fund).

"This is a sophisticated attempt at fraudulently acquiring investors’ money. Invesco/Invesco Perpetual are not authorised to give investment advice; therefore, our staff will not make cold-calls or contact you by telephone or email to make investment recommendations."

Invesco Perpetual is one of the leading fund managers in the UK. Its flagship funds Invesco Perpetual Income and High Income are two of the most widely held funds by private investors.
