Formula1 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix Vitaly Petrov (Renault) has huge crash & reminds me of my incident at Silverstone in early days of FF1600

Formula1 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix Petrov Huge Airborne Crash [HD]

Just over two laps from home and with eighth place in his sights, Petrov ran wide at one point, striking a kerb that then launched his car into the air.

On thudding back onto the Sepang circuit, the impact jolted the steering column out of place, leaving Petrov with no means to control his car.

The Russian, however, superbly managed to slow his speed, although ran into a polystyrene advertising hoarding on the other side of the track before finally coming to rest.

Petrov played down the incident as he said: "To be honest I still don't understand what I did.
"The corner is a difficult one, and I knew Lewis (Hamilton) was behind me, but there were only two laps to go and I knew my tyres were good.

"But I picked up some rubber which resulted in understeer and I went wide, and it was a big bump there.

"When I took off and hit the ground, my first thought then was that my race was over.
"It wasn't scary for me. You know it's going to be a big shunt.

"It's actually more scary when you see a wall coming towards you when you crash.

Watching this incident of Vitaly Petrov in his Lotus Renault reminded me of an incident inf my second year of Formula Ford 1600 in my FF1969 Oscar at Silverstone. Going into Becketts on the Grand Prix Circuit the steering wheel came off and rested on my chest as I headed into the corner with no way to steer around it. I brought it to a halt in a more or less straight line and did not hit the banking. The bolts had sheared! Guess I knew how he felt this morning with no steering. If I remember I brought it to a halt in a straight line by applying the brakes, everytime it started to break away releasing them. I find that I have a six sense in incidents.

The penultimate race at Castle Combe the previous season I was involved in a crash at Tower - 2 cars were spinning in front of me and I went to avoid them but we collected one another on the grass. A Hawke following me crashed on top of me - I was in the cockpit semi dazed with the Hawke´s petrol pouring onto my running engine. Luckily one of the Marshalls switched it off
.
The photo hit the magazine Autosport! Heard afterwards that the Hawke driver had kidney problems as a result of the accident and the Hawke factory employee that stuck the STP on the underside of the Hawke owned up to this many years later. Obviously in this crash I had put so much pressure on my steering wheel that new nuts and bolts should have been put on this before the next season.
.
For those that remember the Cooper Formula One car you may notice a resemblance between that and the Oscar FF1600 here - It was designed by the same person Frank Boyles
The aluminium bodywork was made by Maurice Gomm

It seems the crook and his trojan virus was busy during the last 24 hours - mind you with the Spanish work scam offer we had 150 visits from potential victims in a day which is why we expose scams here. These people are bastards, scum. They should get a job and stop preying on people. In their next life they may come back as vultures

Russell Grant’s Daily Horoscopes: Sunday 10th April 2011

Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Do people mean what they say or are they hoping you will read messages between the words? Someone who is close to you might be under a degree of pressure and they’re finding it hard to put feelings into words. They’d appreciate a little assistance and encouragement and this means you need to be patient with them. As well as listening to their words, tune into their body language and read their eyes. Eyes will reflect the voiceless words inside.
.
Если бы только я мог видеть их глаза: =)
.
Taurus (Apr21/May21) The more you fight temptation, the more it draws you. You’re trying to be sensible although it feels like you’re being foolish and irrational; that’s the nature of emotion. Whether you’re taking a risk with romance or money this is something you feel you have to do or you will regret it forever. You’ve felt the same for a few days and you’re prepared for the consequences, either way. Of course, you’re hoping it will go your way.
.
Gemini (May22/June21) A friend or colleague is always looking for what works best for them without considering anyone else’s needs or feelings. This is a good reason why you’re thinking about pulling out of projects they’re involved in. If you must continue with a joint contract, look after your interests by getting together and hammering out new details. Making a hard headed decision makes you feel uncomfortable but this is the right medicine for them and it will help sort out the situation.
.
Cancer (June22/July23) Your good humoured mood will help you feel, experience and appreciate all relationships today. A friend could find an item abandoned in their garden or on a roadside that is in perfect condition; this could be of use to someone you both know. A parcel needs to be collected when it would have been so much easier had someone been in when they tried to deliver it. No matter how frustrating some events are, most will have their funny side. Laughter, it is said, is the best medicine!
.
Leo (July24/Aug23) Be flexible and be prepared to experiment today; offer others your support when they need it. It never does anyone any good to have all their eggs in the one basket. Trying out new schemes will help feed your more adventuresome inclinations. Be creatively selfish! An introduction to a friend of a friend will help widen your social circle. Splashing out on a fun item makes family life more enjoyable. A special ceremony is soon to be held and you could be involved in the preparations.
.
Virgo (Aug24/Sept23) You’re trapped in a situation you wish you had never got into. You might wonder how much longer this is likely to last. It might feel as if you are powerless and it is up to others to change things but you have more control than you may realise. Other people will look to you for direction. The moment you let them see you are against what’s going on they will start to question their own involvement. The time has come for making waves. This will bring about the change you are hoping for.
.
Libra (Sept24/Oct23) There will be moments when you might wish you could be more independent. Issues will crop up when you won’t share your partner’s point of view. Instead of getting frustrated, try looking on this as a lesson in sharing especially if you are newlywed or you are new to a financial partnership. Work on your differences and an understanding will slowly develop. The best way to achieve this will be to talk to each other!
.
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) After a brief hiatus, trouble rears up again and it looks like a certain endeavour will be cancelled forever. You aren’t the only person who got it wrong so don’t be hard on yourself. If wrong decisions have been made, at least you won’t make the same mistakes again. Life doesn’t come with instructions. Moving away from this situation will give you the chance to find something new and more productive to do; something that works better for you.
.
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) Be sure to notice if someone close has made an effort to change their appearance, no matter how slight. Complimenting their new hairstyle or outfit will make their day. Paying attention to the little things brings the chance for deeper intimacy with your significant other. Say what’s on your mind if someone asks for advice you are qualified to give, as you can make a real difference.
.
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) Your home is buzzing with news about a relative’s good fortune. An impromptu celebration could be the result. Others seem to be relying on you to taxi people around and this will take quite a big chunk out of your day. You may have some subconscious fears about a close relationship when it might seem someone is pulling away from you. Try not to sulk as you could be reading too much into their strange behaviour.
.
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) A neighbour who is going away on a holiday or business trip might ask you to keep an eye on things while they’re gone. They seem nervous about approaching you so be ready to reassure them that this will not inconvenience you at all, but you will probably be glad to do someone a favour as this is the opening you’re looking for to get to know your neighbours a little better.
.
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) A local event will mean extra people on the street; if you want to get anywhere quickly steer clear of crowded places. Occasionally it pays to take the longest route if it means avoiding traffic or road works and this is one of those days. There may be a battle going on in your head between going along with a friend’s ideas or pleasing your partner by doing something completely different. If you feel a loved one has let you down, could it be that you had too high expectations?

Russell Grant’s Weekly Horoscopes: Monday 11th April 2011

Aries (Mar21/Apr20) If there’s a socialising theme to the week it is more likely to take the shape of home entertaining on a small scale. You and those you spend time with are more in a mood to enjoy the quieter, more tranquil pleasures of life rather than doing anything in a big way. Some confusion is likely within a close relationship while Mercury continues to be retrograde in your sign. Deal with everything from a factual point of view and watch out for an irrational outburst.
 .
Taurus (Apr21/May21) With a heavy emphasis on the private zone of your chart you are more likely to prefer being at home, staying within familiar surroundings and working behind the scenes. Dreams, discussions or something you find while clearing out a cupboard or wardrobe could unearth hidden events and this will have the effect of reviving past quarrels and grievances. It might be better to let bygones be bygones and even to destroy a letter or item that might upset someone.
 .
Gemini (May22/June21) The pace speeds up as you are involved in a number of group and team events. With your ruler Mercury still retrograde, it’s worth checking all arrangements in your diary. Have you double booked yourself at any time? If your profession involves dealing with the public and women in particular, added success could be yours to enjoy. You might also get involved with a charity cause that is close to your heart.
 .
Cancer (June22/July23) A touch of inner conflict should not be allowed to rule your moods and spoil your days. If there is something you are unhappy about or you have a grievance you need to get off your chest, there are people around who are willing to listen. Take a deep breath and explain what it is that’s bugging you. Even if the person you turn to won’t be able to offer any immediate help or support it will be a relief to share your worries.
 .
Leo (July24/Aug23) A long term project begun now could have a profound bearing on the future. What’s important is you stick it out during the inevitable teething trouble phase. Once this has passed, everything will go smoothly. With Mercury retrograde there may be disagreements over minor details which can be solved through discussion and compromise. A domineering person will cause a scene but you won’t feel intimidated. You can handle their behaviour.
 .
Virgo (Aug24/Sept23) If you’re buying, selling or dealing with the sale or purchase of property there may be some slight delay in transactions. Be patient as the situation will improve later in April. At work, instead of waiting to be asked, why not be the first to volunteer for exciting new assignments. Being assertive will help you get on the good side of your boss or another superior who is looking for someone they can trust and rely on.
 .
Libra (Sept24/Oct23) Personal relationships will improve because you’re in tune with your partner now. Mercury retrograde helps you discuss matters of the past that have caused pain, upset and contention. In a close friendship old disagreements may also tend to return. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind as this is the only way the matter will be resolved. Overall you will feel you are making progress even if it has meant taking a few steps back in order to move forward again!
 .
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) All areas of life are likely to be busier than normal. Some people will complain they can’t keep up with it all but you will relish every mad moment! With you being so busy, you need to remain practical and be cautious especially when anything new is discussed. Don’t be fooled by someone’s charming words and flattering glances. They’re trying to get around you and once they get your agreement, they may not be half as charming and friendly as they’re being now!
 .
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) It is understandable that you will feel stifled and restricted if other people are trying to force you to sit on any adventurous plans you have been making. Although romance figures highly in your agenda, you aren’t looking for long term commitments, rather a brief encounter that will be great fun while it lasts. Avoid gambling with money or prized possessions and if you run your own business, sit on the temptation to over stretch budgets!
 .
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) Where there have been misunderstandings, the way to sort things out is to encourage everyone to be ready to forgive and make a fresh start. Home life will turn out to be more relaxing than it was earlier in the year and you are ready now to put more time aside, to enjoy the company of your family. If you are single and looking for love, there could be the chance of you meeting someone through a religious or charitable organisation.
 .
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) How do you know you can trust someone to carry out their promises? The proof of anyone’s good intentions will lie in their actions, not their words. If they’re serious about the commitments they’re making, they will show it through their dedicated efforts. Some people will say what they know you want to hear but they aren’t so big on keeping to their word. As the week draws to a close you’ll know who can be trusted and who can’t!
 .
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) Your partner or lover could be your greatest friend and ally when they take your side over a matter that means a lot to you. Changes taking place in your relationships will be beneficial; go with your hunches. Someone might fail in an important venture, test or examination. If they’re serious, they will try again. Challenges you take on won’t be easy but the praise and complements coming your way will provide the fuel to keep you feeling inspired.
