Goldbug100 - BP (BP.L) Will Royal Dutch Shell make a move now suggested damages payments could be half the expected level.

The Daily Mail newspaper reported rival Royal Dutch Shell had considered a takeover bid during the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on Monday 3rd January 2011. The shares hit a 6 month high yesterday and rose another 4.25p again today. Yahoo (below) indicate a year target of 7.57 pounds.

The newspaper said Shell could yet bid for BP if another suitor emerged but Europe's largest oil company by market value was unlikely to be the "first mover."

BP shares trade on a price-earnings ratio of 6.5 times, consensus 2011 earnings, while Shell trades at 8.9 times.

 BP's shares have rebounded 65 percent from their June low at 296 pence, to give BP a market value of around $140 billion - Shell  $210 billion - Exxon  $370 billion.

Regulators might not look kindly on a merger between Shell and BP but maybe the Chinese Oil Company Sinopec or a Russia Company could be interested?

We do not think after the Gulf debacle shareholders will support the board as they have seen their share plunge and the dividend scrapped, at least for the time being. If there was an offer of 7.75 we think shareholders would accept for an investment in BG.L would have been far more rewarding over the last 5 years

Furtado dancing for the close of the video.The "Do It" music video was co-directed by Furtado and Aaron A., the documentarian on Furtado's Get Loose Tour. The shoot took place on location in Detroit, one of the stops on the tour.[3] It begins in a women's restroom, in which dancers on Furtado's tour come out of cubicles and are getting ready to go out. Furtado emerges and starts singing in a restroom, and she and the dancers leave the restroom and walk out of the club while Furtado is holding a gnome. Furtado and her dancers walk down the street to Furtado's friend's apartment, and they walk into her bedroom. When in the bedroom, they get dressed and ready to dance for the end of the video. They run down the stairs and tow a car into the studio, where Furtado begins performing choreography with her dancers at the close of the video. The music video started to be played on UK music channels in early October, 2007.

The video was premiered on MuchMusic on July 13, 2007, and on MTV's Total Request Live on August 1, 2007. It debuted on the TRL countdown on August 9 and entered the top ten;[4] it returned to the top ten on August 27, and has peaked at number one for six days;[5]. It also reached number one on VH1's VSpot Top 20 Countdown, Furtado's most successful video on that countdown. The video was made available to purchase at the iTunes Store.
