Slipak, a renowned Ukrainian opera singer recently killed in the Donbas
warzone, is being commemorated in Paris. People are bringing flowers to
his portrait at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in the French capital.
Meanwhile in central Kyiv a makeshift shrine to Slipak was organized on Maidan Nezalezhnosti square. Ukrainians place candles and flowers to pay the last tribute to the patriot who sacrificed his life.
Slipak had been a soloist of the Paris Opera House for 19 years before volunteering to fight against Russian-backed separatist forces in eastern Ukraine. He was shot and killed by a sniper on Wednesday, June 29.
