Italy - Police arrest Moroccan over alleged synagogue plot

http://www.euronews.com/ Italian police have arrested a 20-year-old Morocan man for allegedly planning an attack on a Milan synagogue.

He is also suspected of setting up Facebook pages on bomb-making techniques. Investigators say they dectected the man after monitoring websites and forums in which the word 'jihad' appears.

Russia - Putin opponent jailed for 5 years for fraud

http://www.euronews.com/ Russian courts have jailed opposition figures linked to protests against Vladimir Putin. Alexei Kozlov was found guilty of fraud in a business deal and sentenced to five years in prison.

Separately, Sergei Udaltsov was given a 10-day sentence for disobeying police by addressing a crowd in Moscow. Blogger Alexei Navalny was fined 25 euros.

http://www.euronews.com/ Fitch ratings agency has revised its outlook on UK debt down, warning the country that it now has a better than one-in-two chance of losing its triple A credit rating in the next two years.
The news comes just a week ahead of the annual budget statement where Chancellor George Osborne is under pressure to ease debt-cutting and stimulate growth. Fitch's warns it is precisely the risk of easing that threatens the credit rating.
