The fruit is usually given to men when their marriage proposal is turned down - and the demonstrators in Kiev are emphatically saying no to spending cuts.

The IMF has told the Ukrainian government that savings need to be made before the country can have the next installment of a loan of over 11 million euros. Two portions were given, before the loan was frozen - threatening the funds due in December

http://www.euronews.net/ Syrian security forces are reported to have killed five people in Homs, the day after the government agreed to an Arab League plan to pull the army out of cities.

Activists said tanks fired heavy machineguns and anti-aircraft guns in the residential area of Bab Amro, which has witnessed many protests.

One resident said after celebrating the deal they had woken up to rain and shelling.

وافقت الحكومة بعد يوم وأفيد أن قوات الأمن السورية قتلت خمسة اشخاص في حمص ، على خطة الجامعة العربية لسحب الجيش من المدن.

وقال نشطاء الدبابات نيران المدافع الرشاشة الثقيلة والمدافع المضادة للطائرات في منطقة سكنية في باب عمرو، التي شهدت الكثير من الاحتجاجات.

وقال أحد السكان بعد الاحتفال الصفقة انهم استيقظوا على المطر والقصف.

Iran today - Iran warns US against 'collision course' over nuclear programme

http://www.euronews.net/ Tehran has stepped up its attacks on the United States, amid speculation that Washington may accelerate plans for missile strikes against Iran's nuclear programme.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, said during a visit to Libya that the US should "think twice" before putting itself on a "collision course" with Tehran.

Iranian newspapers carry the Supreme Leader's comments accusing the US of being behind terrorist attacks.

Europe today - Draghi marks ECB reign with rate cut from 1.5% to 1.25%

http://www.euronews.net/ Well, they say a new broom sweeps clean. In his first meeting as boss of the ECB Mario Draghi has surprised nearly everyone by cutting base interest rates by a quarter-percent to one and a quarter percent.

The 23-member rate-setting council had been predicted to leave rates unchanged. Markets ticked higher on the news
