The energy minister and leading Leave campaigner, Andrea Leadsom, responded to accusations of hypocrisy, made in the Mail on Sunday, which referred to a speech she gave in 2013 - to the Hansard Society - warning about the dangers of leaving the EU. Speaking to Andrew Marr, she rejected the accusations of hypocrisy, and said she had argued for radical change of the European Union. On her bid to be the next Conservative leader and prime minister, she said: "The next person to lead this country has to somebody who believes in the opportunity of leaving the EU."

Michael Gove has said he is standing to be the next leader of the Conservative Party because "I want to advance certain arguments and certain principles," agreeing that he had to make "some difficult decisions" but did them for the good of the country and his principles.

On Boris Johnson, Mr Gove said he "came to the conclusion reluctantly" after throwing his "heart and soul" into trying to persuade Mr Johnson to do that job, but he says it became clear "he could not do that".

127 billion US dollars is a price of Brexit for the richest people on the world. This is the approximate sum 400 tycoons including Microsoft founder Bill Gates lost at stock markets on Friday, as soon as the referendum results were officially declared. George Soros in turn gained a good deal on British pound weakening, since he has been providently obtaining gold bars and shares of gold-mining companies.

While the financial geniuses compete for large personal incomes, world stock markets tremble in fear. British pound of sterling's has lost more than 10% of its value, having fallen to the 1985 indices. As a result, European currency rate is 3,5% cheaper in comparison to US dollar.

All these boring financial activities could have been ignored, if the E.U. was not the main trading partner of Ukraine. However, since 34% of Ukrainian export goods head to the West, Ukrainian specialists express big worries concerning the issue.

Apart from economic problems, Brexit may postpone the adoption of visa-free regime for Ukraine. One of the reasons why London initiated the Brexit referendum was migrant's crisis. In fear of illegal refugees the EU may simply delay visa liberalization.

#UK - Sadiq Khan: 'Leave' camp must explain rising xenophobia - UpFront: Al Jazeera English

Just a week after Britain's vote to leave the European Union, the UK is facing a potential economic downturn, a political crisis and a spate of racist attacks.

During the referendum, those on both sides of the debate accused each other of lies, smears and racism, but with Islamophobic and racist abuse now on the rise, who is to blame for the spike in attacks?

In this week's Headliner, Mehdi Hasan speaks to London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who says the leaders of the "Leave" campaign must explain why there is now a sharp increase in racist attacks.

"You can't escape the fact that the ['Leave'] campaign was horrible," he adds.

When asked how best to combat Islamophobic rhetoric, the London mayor says that the country must "beat it one person at a time, one newspaper at a time, one media outlet at a time."

Five people were killed and another 22 wounded on Saturday (July 2) when a man entered a cafe in northern Serbia and opened fire with an assault rifle he owned illegally.

Police said they arrested the gunman, in his late 30s, immediately after the shooting during a local festival in the village of Zitiste, around 80 kilometres north of Belgrade.

The gunman reportedly aimed for his estranged wife and another woman. He had no criminal record and authorities say jealousy could be a motive.

Protect Your Portfolio From Volatile Markets With This Strategy: TheStreet

If the second half of 2016 looks anything like the first, investors are in for quite a volatile equity market. 'Markets always have some volatility, but it's been increasing the last couple of years,' said Nardin Baker, chief strategist at Guggenheim Partners, a global investment firm with $240 billion in assets under management. 'Events seem to cause a spike in volatility, volatility may fall and then stay at a somewhat higher level than in the past.' While it's anyone's guess as to what those events are going to be, Baker said investors should be cautious about taking on too much risk right now. The VIX, Wall Street's fear index, which measures volatility, traded at an average of 18 year-to-date. On Friday, the VIX traded near 14.8. Its high for the year was 28.14, reached on Feb. 11, the same day the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average hit its 2016 low of 15,660,18. At the start of 2016, worries about China's economy sparked worries of a global recession, leading to a markets swoon. To grapple with volatility Baker stressed the importance of an optimized volatility strategy, where a portfolio's holdings are altered based on various market conditions. 'With optimized volatility, we measure which stocks have been rewarded in the recent past: high risk ones or low risk ones,' Baker said. 'Then we find an optimized portfolio that tilts towards those either high risk or low risk ones - whichever is being rewarded.' Baker said this changes the portfolio's risk exposure, but only after the market has started to reward risk. Markets usually reward risk after major selloffs. 'You don't have to do anything in terms of making decisions - we are always measuring what the reward to risk is and the portfolio automatically shifts the exposure,' he said. Baker said investors can take part in this strategy through an exchange traded fund. Guggenheim offers the U.S. Large Cap Optimized Volatility ETF , which contains 120 S&P 500 names. Meanwhile, Baker is watching two factors for the remainder of 2016: the dollar's strength and interest rates. '[If the 10-Year Treasury yield] stays low at 1.5 percent, we're probably in for some slow [economic] growth,' he said. On Friday, the 10-Year yield fell to 1.385 percent, a record low, as investors continued to flood safe-haven government bonds, following the historic June 23 Brexit vote. Baker also doesn't expect the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates in 2016. 'If you look at future curves, the markets aren't forecasting much growth or much inflation,' he said. 'The Fed would like to raise rates, but they're not really compelled to at this time.' TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.

She said she was left "shocked and shaken" by the language, which included a word she had not heard directed at her before.

France is the EU's largest agricultural producer, but its farmers are faced with administrative constraints, falling sales prices and debt. Many are pushed into depression and some to the point of suicide; officially, 200 take their own lives each year.

FRANCE 24's Chris Moore and Sylvain Rousseau spoke to farmers in Brittany, one of France's main agricultural regions, who feel increasingly isolated and uncertain. One reason for their anger is the sharp fall in prices for dairy and other animal products.

Among them is Jacques Jeffredo, a vegetable farmer who set out some 600 white crosses in front of a local basilica in October 2015 to symbolise the 600 farmers who he says commit suicide every year.

Michael Gove promised again today to introduce an Australian-style points system to control immigration numbers if he becomes Prime Minister. But is Australia really the best place on which to model an immigration policy? Immigration has become a key issue in this weekend's general election. And its treatment of asylum seekers arriving by boat has been heavily criticised - not least by the UN secretary general.

Those arriving by boat are sent to offshore detention facilities on the tiny republic of Nauru - nearly 2000 miles from Australia - and Manus, an island off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

On arrival they face indefinite detention with no hope of ever reaching Australia. Conditions have been described by doctors and lawyers as tantamount to torture.

TheStreet's Action Alerts PLUS Portfolio Manager said a self-driving car is better than an impaired driver. 'I think the lesson here is that you still can't take your eye off the road,' Cramer said. 'People are going to love Tesla and they loved it before [this accident] and they'll love it after.' A driver was killed in May while riding in a Tesla Model S vehicle under autopilot mode, which raised questions about the safety of self-driving vehicles. On Thursday, Tesla said the Federal government has started to investigate the fatal crash. Tesla shares lost 0.3 percent on Friday.
