#usa #gaza #israel - US won't stop any weapons to Israel over Gaza humanitarian aid situation • FRANCE 24 English

13 November 2024

Eight international aid groups said Tuesday that Israel has failed to meet US demands for greater humanitarian access to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, where hunger experts say the north may already be experiencing famine.

However, the Biden administration said Tuesday it won't limit weapons transfers to Israel because the US says its key ally has done good but limited progress in increasing the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Last month, Washington told Israel to boost aid to Gaza within 30 days, or else it could trigger US laws requiring it to scale back American military support.

2 October 2024

U.N. Security Council meets on the situation in the Mideast. The Middle East is on edge as Binyamin Netanyahu vowed that Iran “will pay” for launching a missile strike on Israel. READ MORE: https://www.thetimes.com/world/middle... As more troops advanced into Lebanon on Wednesday, at least one soldier has been killed during direct clashes with Hezbollah, according to the Israeli army. The clash comes after Israel warned Tehran that if it went ahead with the launch on Tuesday night, it would directly hit Iran’s nuclear or oil facilities in retaliation. Iran’s oil industry is considered one of the main lifelines of the regime, with tens of millions of people dependent on it.

#Gaza - UN says Israeli strike killed six of its Gaza staff | BBC News

12 September 2024

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) says six of its employees have been killed in an Israeli air strike on a school it runs in central Gaza. Gaza's Hamas-run Civil Defence agency said a total of 18 people were killed in Wednesday’s strike on al-Jaouni school in Nuseirat refugee camp, which is being used as a shelter by thousands of displaced Palestinians.

Israel's military said it carried out a “precise strike on terrorists” planning attacks from the school, and that it had taken measures to avoid harm to civilians.

UN Secretary General António Guterres condemned the strike, saying: “What’s happening in Gaza is totally unacceptable".
