“Musk is the one who ultimately has control of this technology.”
JD Vance has said he “didn’t think Elon Musk wanted to get involved in … setting the direction of US policy”, but Pete Hegseth and Marco Rubio have “essentially said the opposite”, says senior features writer for The Daily Mail Harriet Alexander.
Harriet Alexander was speaking to Geoff Norcott on Times Radio. Listen live every Friday 7-10pm.
The U.S. was supposed to spend $40 billion to build internet in rural America, then Elon Musk got a huge chunk of that money redirected to Starlink.
He made hundreds of millions, while countless people still don't have good internet.
We went to Louisiana where kids can't do their homework, schools can't support their students, and businesses struggle without a reliable connection.

More Perfect Union is an Emmy-winning, nonprofit newsroom whose mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means: We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective. We attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions. We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power. And we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.
U.S. President Donald Trump has denied ordering restrictions on satellite communications used by Ukraine’s military, saying he does not believe either he or Elon Musk was responsible for the reported disruption.
The controversy follows reports that reduced access to SpaceX’s Starlink-linked Starshield services affected Ukrainian military communications and drone operations.
The dispute raises questions about the role of private satellite networks in modern warfare, Ukraine’s reliance on SpaceX technology and the relationship between Washington, Kyiv and Elon Musk.

My message to my more than 46,000 followers. Please read this tweet.
My American friends. The elections are fast approaching. The whole world is watching you closely. Many of us are very worried about what might happen. We all know that Trump won’t let go of power. Personally, I’m afraid of another January 6 but even worse.
Even though it may seem scary, you'll get through this.
I hope you’ll go out and vote. Everyone, vote and tell this administration: “NO TO A SECOND CHANCE.”
I’ll be following the election from start to finish. It will be very late in France, so I plan to stay up all night.
I was born in the late ’90s and grew up in the 2000s and 2010s. I miss that America full of hope, the one that elected an African American president in 2008, the one that stood by its allies, the one that had honor, terribly, and rest assured, hundreds of millions of people around the world miss it too.
Come to your senses, take back the reins, and say, “Fuck you, Trump,” this November.
Happy Saturday everyone πππ¦
The worst crisis in US-Ukraine relations since last year’s Oval Office meltdown is deteriorating further over a dispute about who ordered a disruption to a critical Ukrainian military system running on Elon Musk’s Starlink internet service.
Reuters reports that the order to limit the Ukrainian military's use of the SpaceX Starshield system came from inside the White House, citing two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter. Ukrainian generals were shocked by the limits on the Starshield system, which is owned and controlled by the US government.
The restrictions effectively limited the speed of Ukrainian military hardware, including drones, and reduced the military’s capacity to communicate and to operate war planes and helicopters. These curbs amounted to a significant military advantage to Russia’s forces on the battlefield.

President Zelensky has said he feels "betrayed" by President Trump and the US.
He believes access to Elon Musk's Starlink Starshield system, which is critical to Ukraine's fight against Russia, was limited. Ukraine said systems have now been restored.
But - just how reliant Ukraine and others are on Elon Musk's technology? And are there any alternatives?

In a bizarre turn of events, Trump mega donor Eric Deters has released a video in which he says he has an explosive recorded telephone conversation that will 'bring the entire Trump administration, including Trump, Marco Rubio, Susie Wiles and JD Vance down.'
"This might just bring down the entire Trump administration," says Deters.
"It also may end the J.D. Vance–Marco Rubio ticket after you hear the phone call that I’m gonna play tomorrow. By the end of tomorrow, I am going to play for you a phone recording that is the most explosive, most devastating information about Kimberly Guilfoyle to date." https://t.co/bzbCOmg64A

Can a flick of a switch really be enough for Donald Trump and Elon Musk to end Ukraine's hopes of holding out against Russia? With Kyiv already reeling from daily strikes by Russia's new motor-powered drones, the United States decision to slow SpaceX Starlink service felt immediately Wednesday when air raid warnings failed.
We'll check the status on Starlink - reportedly back up to speed, ask if Volodymyr Zelenskiy has any friends in Washington that can convince an administration that prefers diesel deals with Moscow to supporting Ukraine, and whether supporters of Kyiv have run out of road.
They're striving to weene themselves off eight decades of depending on Washington for their defense. Do they have any agency? If not, is it the end of Ukraine, the end of Nato... and even the European Union as we know it?

π¨π¨ESPAΓA DEJA EN RIDΓCULO A TRUMPπ¨π¨
Gracias.

SpaceX boss Elon Musk said Wednesday that any disruptions reported by Ukraine in using the Starshield satellite communications system would be the responsibility of the US government, not his company. "Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government.
Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS," Musk said, referring to US President Donald Trump. FRANCE 24's International Affairs Editor Kethevane Gorjestani tells us more.
π¨ SHOCKING ESCALATION:
Just one hour after announcing his sudden resignation, outgoing US Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Randy George dropped this bombshell:
