Police in Spain's North African territory of Ceuta used batons and fired rubber bullets into the air to control crowds, as they moved hundreds of migrants from beaches to a tent camp. Tens of thousands of migrants crossed from neighbouring Morocco to Ceuta in July. At least 100 people died in the attempt. Though most of the migrants went back, several thousand have remained in the Spanish territory.
