Gordon Brown vanished after losing this year’s general election. In the Commons he did not show up to vote. He locked himself up in his Scottish home. By August this year, three months after his election disaster, it was finished and here it is, all 90,000 words of it.
It is not an easy read, indeed giving it to a friend for Christmas should be treated as a hostile act. Nevertheless the central thesis is powerful.
