Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia hit a power plant in Ukraine "immediately after" US President Donald Trump announced what he called an energy ceasefire.
Zelensky said Ukraine is willing to back an energy truce if Moscow does as well, adding that it could "become a major step toward ending the war."
So far, the Kremlin has not commented on the idea, which could see both sides pausing attacks on each other's energy facilities.
Trump has been urging Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian oil infrastructure so Moscow can fulfil a recently struck deal to release diesel to the US and the global market.
The agreement, which the US president said would lower fuel prices, has angered members of his own party, who joined with Democrats in claiming that it was a ‘financial lifeline’ to a murderous regime and a violation of US law. https://t.co/1zeX82j6aZ https://t.co/8cdsI0Vi1H
The primary cause of rising energy costs is the president’s war against Iran, not Ukraine. American voters will punish him

RUSSIA–UKRAINE WAR
U.S. President Donald Trump claims that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an "energy ceasefire" effective immediately but provided no details. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv would support the ceasefire if Moscow did but later accused Russia of striking Ukrainian energy facilities, including a strike on a joint heating and power plant in Kharkiv that took place after Trump's ceasefire announcement.

BREAKING: The diesel fuel Russia is now exporting to the United States at U.S. President Trump’s request may have originated in Iran, as Russian oil refineries are largely unable to produce diesel because of Ukrainian attacks.
Russia has been importing most of the diesel it needs from Iran. In September, thousands of Iranian tanker trucks were spotted in various regions of Russia, including Ryazan, carrying Iranian diesel.
Russia may be buying Iranian diesel and reselling it to the United States. If so, Trump’s attempt to lower U.S. energy prices and deceive American voters is putting money into the hands of Russia and Iran’s Islamic regime.

Nato is preparing for a new era of warfare, combining cheaper weapons deployed at scale with tougher air defences, one of its most senior commanders has told the BBC's The Security Brief.
Air Chief Marshal Sir Johnny Stringer said NATO was drawing lessons from Ukraine, combining its sophisticated, expensive weapons with cheaper systems that can be deployed in far greater numbers.
