Russia and Ukraine have both praised a surprise statement from US First Lady Melania Trump. The first lady "successfully secured" a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky, the White House said. It said the truce in the "front-line war city on the brink of disaster" without medicine, food and clean water would begin on 29 October. Ukraine and Russia confirmed the deal was agreed to evacuate residents and deliver aid. They both said their forces would stop firing at 02:00 GMT on 27 October.
