1995
Paris, 1785. Years before becoming the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson arrives in France as an American diplomat. Still grieving the death of his wife, he enters a world of magnificent palaces, powerful aristocrats, political intrigue, and revolutionary ideas.
As tensions rise across French society, Jefferson becomes fascinated by the elegance and intellectual freedom of Paris. His growing attachment to the beautiful and sophisticated Maria Cosway introduces emotional complications that threaten his carefully controlled private life.
But behind the glittering world of French high society lies another reality. The arrival of Sally Hemings, an enslaved young woman accompanying Jefferson's daughter, brings questions of slavery, power, freedom, and personal responsibility into sharp focus.
As the French Revolution approaches, Jefferson finds himself caught between political ideals and deeply troubling personal contradictions.
Surrounded by romance, ambition, social inequality, and family conflict, the future American president must confront choices that will shape his legacy. A visually rich historical drama exploring love, power, privilege, and the contradictions of one of America's most influential founding figures.
