North Korea - The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-il has died at the age of 69.

http://www.euronews.net/ The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-il has died at the age of 69. He's believed to have suffered a heart attack on Saturday while travelling on a train.

An emotional announcer told the nation the news saying his death was due to fatigue.

Immediately all other broadcasting was cancelled and replaced by classical music. The funeral is due to be held in Pyongyang on December 28.

Kim's death is likely to cause huge shock waves across the region, sparking concern over who is in control of the reclusive state and its nuclear programme.

US President Obama has spoken on the telephone to his counterpart in South Korea where the military is reportedly on alert. Lee Myung-bak has held emergency talks at home and called for calm, according to an official, asking residents to carry on with daily life.
