Ukraine says AI-assisted robotic gun turrets are now shooting down Russian jet-powered attack drones over Kyiv.
More than a dozen automated turrets have been deployed around the Ukrainian capital as Russia increases its use of faster drones that are harder for conventional air defenses to intercept. Ukraine’s Air Force says the systems use artificial intelligence and machine vision to track targets and aim .50-calibre machine guns, and have already brought down jet-powered drones, including the Geran-5.
DW’s Phil Gayle speaks to journalist and military technology researcher Arthur Holland Michel about Ukraine’s Sky Sentinel system, the accelerating drone-counter-drone arms race and whether warfare is moving towards machines fighting machines. #ukrainewar #drone #ai #warzone #dwcurrentaffairs
