"Deep End" trailer - in UK Cinemas Friday 6th May 2011 - Starring: Jane Asher, John Moulder-Brown, Karl Michael Vogler, Christopher Sandford, Diana Dors

Uploaded by on Nov 3, 2007
Opening credits to the London set 1971 drama Deep End. Stars Jane Asher, John Moulder-Brown, directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, with music by Cat Stevens and Can.

Plot

Mike (John Moulder Brown), a 15 year old boy who has left school, finds a job in a public bathhouse. There he is trained by his slightly older co-worker, Susan (Jane Asher), a provocative, beautiful girl who soon invades Mike's fantasies. Working in the bathhouse he is molested by older women desiring to have him satisfy their repressed lust, in exchange for which he is offered substantial gratuity. When he tries to refuse, Susan informs him that this is a normal occurrence there and offers to trade her female clients for his male clients, who would use Susan similarly.
.
Mike's obsession for Susan soon grows, leading him to follow her in the night. Several episodes reveal this obsession. He tries to touch her breasts from behind when she is at the cinema with her fiancee watching an adult movie, later declaring to a cop that he's "in love!" Subsequently he discovers that Susan is cheating on her fiance with an older man who was Mike's track coach and works as lascivious swim coach for teenage girls at the bathhouse. Mike is enraged by this and smashes the fire alarm, cutting his hand, also calling off his trading of clients with Susan.
.
Soon after, when again stalking Susan and her fiancee, Mike finds a topless cardboard cut-out of a girl that may or may not be Susan in front of a strip club and steals it; and, after confronting Susan on the subway, dives into the public bath's swimming pool during the night, simulating sexual intercourse with it. Later in a park, Mike crashes the gym/swim coach's track race and lets the air out of the coach's tires just before Susan is about to drive the car. Susan loses the diamond from her engagement ring in the snow when she hits Mike for his behavior. Mike helps her to collect the snow where the diamond might have fallen, and they take it in plastic bags to the baths to melt it.
.
Mike finds the diamond when Susan is on the phone with her fiancee and lies down naked in the dry pool with the diamond on his tongue. He then gives the diamond to Susan; she undresses and they have sexual intercourse in the dried pool. When she stands up and starts dressing after Mike is apparently unable to perform, Mike goes crazy, shouting to her to stay and not to go with her fiancee. In his rage Mike swings a large ceiling lamp at her. The lamp cracks her head and she falls unconscious while the swimming pool is being filled with water. A tin of red paint is knocked over by the swinging ceiling lamp and mixes with Susan's blood. The movie ends with the naked Mike embracing Susan's nude corpse underwater, his fate left ambiguous.
