In the eighteenth century gin was popular among the poor and often called 'mother's ruin'. But now, traditional gin distilleries are make something of a comeback.

The resurgence is being led by discerning buyers in search of an exclusive product - and it has caused sales of boutique style gins to rocket by 150%.
