Daniel Sanderson, the News of the World reporter who was responsible for the story about Kate McCann's diary, has told the Leveson Inquiry into media ethics that he was sorry for his involvement in its publication.
He said the story should not have been printed and he intended to apologise to Kate and Gerry McCann, the parents of Madeleine McCann who went missing in Portugal in 2007.
