Kawauchi used to be a thriving village
of some 3,000 people until a nuclear meltdown at the nearby Fukushima
No.1 power plant caused by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami forced
villagers to leave in their droves. One year on roads are deserted,
houses stand empty and shops are closed. Nobody wants to go back home.
