Costa Concordia to deal financial blow to cruise industry

Published on Jan 19, 2012 by
http://www.euronews.net/ The deadly Costa Concordia accident is likely to further damage the cruise ship industry which was already struggling with an uncertain economy.

The boss of CruiseCompete.com, a website that offers deals on cruises, said the video of a half sunken ship and interviews with passengers telling of harrowing escapes will inevitably hit bookings.

He added that a drop in demand for cruise holidays would quickly lead to lower prices as operators hate to sail with empty cabins.

http://www.euronews.net/ The chaotic organisation of passengers on the Concordia, with deadly consequences for some, raises serious questions about emergency procedures and crew training on cruise ships.

Imagine hearing this exclamation, which was captured on amateur video, when you are desperate to seek safety: "Eh, eh, tranquili, mamma mia, madonna!"

In the frantic disorder of a life boat, a voice is heard urging others: "Take pictures! It will be important in establishing whose fault this is."

My pet squirrel *she's a rescue so she became a pet* watches me paint since I'm a pro doll artist for a living. She was obsessed with my paint brushes so I let her have some food coloring and let her use a brush. Now it's a happy obsession for her.You can find update when she has paintings for sale by joining her FB.The money she makes off the paintings goes to her for treats and things like cat trees to play on,And we also have allot of other rescue animals and the money also goes to them.
-Ugly Shyla

P.S. And as far as people saying she is just chewing on the brush. She is handicap one hand is totally useless. So she has to use her good hand and her mouth to move things around. She was attacked by a cat as a baby and it hurt her hand.So the hand can not grasp or move the fingers. She has also taught herself to eat by grasping the food with the good hand and putting it between the useless fingers on the other. And I challenge anybody to put some paint on the end of a brush and hand it to a wild squirrel and see if it knows to put the brush part down. And I'm not coercing it into doing it.She likes it and you can't coerce a squirrel into anything. And I have my paint brushes in jars around the work table she plays on and she doesn't pick them up and chew them. She chews everything else but those.

Today in History January 19th

Today in History for January 19th

Russell Grant's Daily Horoscopes for Thursday 19th January 2012

.
Aries (Mar21/Apr20) A parent, supervisor, or authority figure is giving you lots of grief. It seems as if they don't approve of an intimate relationship. Although you want to be in their good graces, you also need to be happy. Turn a deaf ear to their complaints and be ready to defend your partner from their verbal attacks and emotional manipulations. Unless you take a stand, your love affair will suffer. You'll also lose the respect of your tormentor. The only way to deal with a bully is to shove back.
  .
Taurus (Apr21/May21) Keep your competitive spirit in check. Although you're the most talented member of the group, you should refrain from showing off. Give your peers plenty of encouragement and praise. Your opinion means more than you realise. If you play your cards right, you might even be asked to teach a class or give a demonstration. Trying to outshine the other members of the team will backfire miserably. You'll be given a chance to shine at a more appropriate time.
  .
Gemini (May22/Jun21) Beware of asking too much of your nearest and dearest. Although your perfectionism is admirable in some circumstances, it isn't necessary here. If a relative or lover gives a lacklustre performance, don't criticise. We all have bad days. Besides, this could be just a small bump in the road. With a little praise and encouragement, your friend will try harder the next time. Until then, maintain a balanced view and refrain from giving your unvarnished opinion.
  .
Cancer (Jun22/Jul23) It will be impossible to avoid conflict. Your partner keeps imposing their tastes and views on you, and it has become oppressive. Any time you try to venture an opinion, you are shouted down. It's time to put an end to this terrible dynamic. Be very clear about setting new boundaries. Tell your tormentor you'll no longer tolerate their abuse, and what you will do the next time it is inflicted. Be ready to act on your threats. Stop wasting time on unworthy people.
  .
Leo (Jul24/Aug23) A power struggle at work makes you wonder how much this job is worth. You're tired of being contradicted at every turn. Most people respect your talent and have no talent deferring to you. A colleague is sceptical of your gifts and is always trying to undermine you. Disarm this pest by inviting them to lunch. Be very honest about how their comments are affecting your productivity and making the office environment very tense.
  .
Virgo (Aug24/Sep23) Indulging your vices is taking a toll on your body. It's time to practice moderation, even when you're surrounded by your favourite food, drink, and diversions. By creating a strategy to avoid temptation, your good health will be restored. Take this opportunity to splurge on a gym membership or personal training session. Investing in your own wellbeing will pay off handsomely. Your system is too delicate to handle a lot of fat, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine.
  .
Libra (Sep24/Oct23) Stubborn pride stops you making inroads with a family member. Although you and this relative have radically different views, you have many shared memories. Sit down and lay some new ground rules for your relationship. Avoid sensitive issues like religion and politics. Vow to remain silent about each other's personal choices. By focusing on the things you share, you'll be able to occupy the same room without wanting to tear each other apart.
  .
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) You're reluctant to express your disgust because you're afraid of being dismissed. If there's anything you hate, it's having your input treated like trash. Remaining silent is no longer an option. You don't want to be complicit in a bad decision. Go on the record as being against a particular choice. The powers that be will try to discredit you. In the end, everyone will have wished they sided with you when they had the chance. In the meantime, stand firm.
  .
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) Spending lots of money won't impress anyone. Be frugal with your resources, and stop lending cash to anyone who asks. You love your friends, but sometimes aren't sure whether they are truly loyal. You're about to find out who really cares for you and who is just along for the ride. This knowledge will be devastating but helpful. You've got a limited amount of time and energy. Stop wasting it on people who are completely self obsessed.
  .
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) You've got to be a lot more accommodating with an authority figure. Scorning their every directive is just getting you in trouble. It's also causing dissention among the ranks. You hold a lot of clout, but don't have any financial power to keep an institution going. At some point, you have to recognise your own shortcomings. Admit you need the patronage of your superior, and give them the proper respect. If you don't, your relationship will continue to deteriorate.
  .
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Hiding from your problems will just make them worse. Confront a teacher or instructor who is blocking your path to success. Just because you don't like each other doesn't mean you can't communicate. Be honest about what you want, and devise a way you can work together to achieve this goal. You'll have to make some sacrifices, but that's better than coming all this way for nothing. Once you cross the finish line, you'll never have to deal with this blowhard again.
  .
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) You're having trouble fitting in with an organisation. Ultimately, you just don't share the values it espouses. Unfortunately, being part of this team is helpful on a professional level. Leaving it will give you a bad reputation. This is one of those situations when you'll just have to grin and bear the boorish behaviour of a few bad apples. If you remain cool and detached, you'll emerge unscathed. Don't get drawn into a politically contentious discussion.
