"Potiche" trailer - in UK Cinemas Friday 20th April 2011 - Starring: Catherine Deneuve, Gérard Depardieu, Fabrice Luchini, Karin Viard, Judith Godrèche.

IN UK CINEMAS JUNE 17

Genre:Comedy, Foreign
Cast:Catherine Deneuve, Gérard Depardieu, Fabrice Luchini, Karin Viard, Judith Godreche
Director:Francois Ozon
Studio:Music Box Films

Plot
Set in 1977 in a French provincial town, Potiche is a free adaptation of the 1970s eponymous French hit comic play. Deneuve is Suzanne, a submissive, housebound 'trophy housewife' (or "potiche") who steps in to manage her wealthy husband's umbrella factory after the workers go on strike and take him hostage.
 .
To everyone's surprise, she proves herself a competent and assertive woman of action. But when her husband returns from a restful cruise in top form, things get complicated. Depardieu plays a union leader and Suzanne's former beau who still holds a flame for her.
 .
Acclaimed writer-director Francois Ozon ("8 Women") twists the original on its head to create his own satirical take on the war between the sexes and classes.

She drinks, she gets high, and she can't wait to marry her meal ticket and get out of her bogus day job. When she's dumped by her fiance, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Justin Timberlake) - competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch). Obviously, you're distressed when those you care go to do battle over issues that could be easily resolved. Tempting as it is to intervene, you would regret it. Given the character of the individuals involved, a head to head confrontation is the only hope of achieving any kind of lasting resolution.

Russell Grant's Daily Horoscopes: Tuesday 14th June 2011

.
Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Relationship issues can be overcome and you will still remain good friends. The lines of communication are buzzing as you try to sort out problems without anyone getting hurt. You might be on the phone for ages or constant text messages sent and received will cause eyes to look in your direction, especially if you are working. It will take a lot for you to finally call it quits but if a friendship or partnership seems to have reached its sell by date, you will part amicably. You intend always to be friends.
 .
Taurus (Apr21/May21) Your money and luck stars combine efforts; expect to benefit from a stroke of good fortune in connection with your work. You might be singled out to do a specific task and a bonus offered will undoubtedly have an influence on your income. Some help you recently gave a colleague has some connection with what seems like a stroke of luck. They're paying you back for your kindness and it isn't providence but reward that is due to you that benefits you now.
 .
Gemini (May22/June21) Some form of deceit or dishonesty is interfering with a friendship. You want answers but someone is being evasive, dodging the issue and changing the subject. Your increased mental awareness makes it hard for you to ignore the negative vibrations you're getting from others. Either you have been confiding in the wrong person or someone you care for has been falsely accused of something. Apologise for any misunderstanding immediately. You may wonder how you're going to win back your place as a friend after all this.
 .
Cancer (June22/July23) It will be hardly worth moving away from familiar haunts as there is so much going on now to interest you. Even your most sophisticated friends and colleagues will find plenty to hold their interest. With relationships being satisfying and home life offering much in the way of enjoyment, there really is no place like home! There will be an open invitation for friends and neighbours to drop by whenever they wish and your sociable mood will continue into the evening.
 .
Leo (July24/Aug23) The problem with attending a big technology conference is it is all work and there's little time to have fun. You may have volunteered for this assignment and others expect you to return home with lots of information for them to drool over. This is your chance to check out what's new this year and to think about the difference innovative equipment might make to your home or workplace. Take the initiative and encourage critical discussion and forward thinking.
 .
Virgo (Aug24/Sept23) Various plans and even your usual routines could suffer some disruption. No matter how well you plan your days there are times when you still have to cope with the unexpected and this is one of those times. It won't be possible to bury your head in the sand because what occurs now faces you head on and must be dealt with. New things must be taken care of and if this is something you haven't gone through before you should accept all help that is offered.
 .
Libra (Sept24/Oct23) There will be differences in the way you and those from different backgrounds view various aspects of life. Some people will find it hard to put their thoughts into words. They leave themselves open for others to jump to conclusions about what they're trying to say. When you hear something you don't understand, instead of putting words into another person's mouth, ask for clarification. After all, you wouldn't like it if someone refused to let you explain yourself properly.

Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) Although you're dealing with someone who has a shady reputation the good news is, they won't let you down. If promises are made, you can rely on the people who made them to keep to their word. You've earned great respect and others know you can be determined and persistent. A crisis can be diverted by putting your trust in a person you wouldn't normally depend on. By giving them the benefit of the doubt, they will come through for you.
 .
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) Falling in with the wishes of others is not how you intended to spend your day but do you have any choice about it? You would prefer a long rein in any form of partnership but someone is keeping a close eye on you. Work you are carrying out under a restrictive regime will eventually be rewarded. People who know you well are aware of how this goes against your need for independence. The bonus will come in the shape of being able to adapt an idea to suit your private interests.
 .
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) An old friend is putting a lot of effort into nurturing your relationship; if you reciprocate the friendship will endure. Someone has chosen to stay in touch with you over time and has always been there for you. They deserve a little more consideration. These days you've been so busy with work and other commitments you've overlooked your social responsibilities. Should someone walk out of your life it will be as if the Sun has been turned off; don't let this happen.
 .
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Ideally, you will get to enjoy the company of a loved one without interruptions from friends and neighbours. Chores you had planned for the day will be forgotten as a sense of togetherness will bring you closer. The family scene could take on a new lease of life when a big change to your everyday routines will suit you down to the ground. Your range of duties now include chores you actually enjoy and you will be relieved of a number of tasks you were starting to find extremely tiring.
 .
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) Get on with tasks that don't call for a lot of concentration and demolish them one by one. Good progress is made through a systematic approach and the amount of work you get through will meet the approval of a senior colleague or someone you always like to impress. Only when your home or workplace is completely tidied will you pause to consider what else is going on. Some form of special thanks will be received for effort recently put in to a community or social project.
.
